How about this for misplaced drilling? The "Lake Peigneur Accident"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_iZr2-Coqc
Maybe the recent Mostly Fools article should have warned prospective HUR investors about the very real possibility of the entire North Atlantic going down the plug hole if Hurricane sinks a drill in the wrong spot?
Yes, let's not get too hung up on what Rupert Fool thinks.
I think their "analysis" goes something like this; "Hmmm, lot's of interest in Hurricane this week. What angle would get us most clicks? I know! let's use the "fall off a cliff" angle. At 0.05p per click, that'll pay for this week's rent".
3.5T, triple axle tilt-bed trailer for me.
Mind you, I have always hankered after an old Lexus LS400, the original one, but will wait till I'm retired and only doing about 3000k miles/year and can afford to fuel it. Such a ground-breaking car when it was first produced.
Thank you for taking the time to reply Street. I was curious how you managed that feat.
So, in virtual terms, your average is below 40p? You are dividing the cash you initially invested (inc. trading fees?) by the total number of shares you now hold, including the "free" shares you accumulated by trading up & down.
Using your metric, someone like Adoubleuk, who has managed (by his own assertion) to regain his initial investment pot, and is now on a "free carry", is now holding HUR shares at an average price of 0p and a profit of infinity %.
Best of luck to you, but remember to stop and smell the flowers sometimes.
Street;
Have you ever been in a cinema and there's an annoying 9-year-old kid behind you, who, every time the scary background music swells up, whispers loudly " I know what's going to happen!" ?
Your strategy works for you, that's great. But others have different strategies and temperaments. Some people just can't be arsed watching a computer screen every day, frantically moving money around to make a few hundred quid. It's just not worth the hassle to them. It doesn't make them foolish, just content to let their investment grow slowly.
Street: " My average is now less than 40p..."
You started posting on this BB on 18th December '18. I'm assuming that's when you first bought HUR because you like to publicise your activity. The SP has only been sub - 40p on 4 days between then and now (18th, 19th, 21st & . 27th December)
On 21st January' 19 you wrote: "I sold out today looking for a new entry 44p GLA , The street"
How did you manage to get a sub 40p average in a period when the SP hasn't dropped below 40p? I'm curious.

"Trading on small percentages only works for people who can do so fast.." And those who are happy to sit on their Arris in front of a PC all day. Not a life I fancy, however many "free shares" it may bring.
Hurricane Energy plc
("Hurricane" or the "Company")
Operational Update:
Hook-up of FPSO at the Lancaster Field
Hurricane Energy plc, the UK based oil and gas company focused on hydrocarbon resources in naturally fractured basement reservoirs, is pleased to provide an operational update in relation to the Early Production System development of the Lancaster field.
The Aoka Mizu FPSO arrived at the Lancaster field on 17 March 2019 and successfully hooked-up to the turret mooring system buoy on the morning of 19 March 2019. The vessel is now on station and securely moored.
Work to achieve first oil continues, following which a further announcement will be made. After first oil, Hurricane anticipates a gradual ramp up of production towards its planned average plateau rate of 17,000 bopd, net of operating efficiency.
From HUR:
"The Aoka Mizu FPSO arrived at the Lancaster field on 17 March 2019 and successfully hooked-up to the turret mooring system buoy on the morning of 19 March 2019. The vessel is now on station and securely moored."
Whether or not AIS is showing "Underway", AM hasn't changed her actual status, as far as I can see.
I have an email alert set in Marine Traffic to show any change of status and the only one I have this morning 7:43am is that she changed status from "Restricted Manoeuvrability" to "Moored". Look like all is well to me IMO:
AOKA MIZU changed her reported Navigational Status from 'Restricted Manoeuvrability' to 'Moored' at:
Time: 2019-03-19 07:43 UTC
Position: 60.17983, -3.870167
Speed/Course: 0.6 knots / 14°
Scoredagain: "...Our trump card is this is uk, not some country with political problems..."
Ha! Mrs May, Mr Junker & others might disagree with you about the UK's current lack of "political problems".
I know what you mean though. Even when our parliament is in "unprecedented meltdown", we just keep bu**ering on as usual.
Found a broken watch in the sideboard today. Amazingly it showed exactly the right time twice today! ....and it doesn't even have a battery in it......free time keeping!
Remember where you heard it first!
AduK; "That is a definite 'no-go'. I'll stick with my old landrover. But with the stereo on full blast with something like this."
I've never really understood the attraction of the Grateful Dead. My best pal likes them and I once knew an oil worker who was mental about them. But then, I've never really given the music a chance. Superficially, it just sounds to me like electric country but I know that most music takes a while before you can appreciate what is going on. All genres sound "samey" until you invest a bit of time in them.
Is it the quality of the lyrics that marks them out? I know Gerry Garcia seems to be quite egalitarian and my friend told me that they would actively encourage "boootlegging" by allowing fans to set up their home recording gear near the sound desk to get a good tape. That seems to be a good type of guy. Most other bands would have kicked lumps out of anyone daring to sneak a wee C90 "souvenir". Not seeming to realise that the fans who buy bootleg tapes will be the same completists who own every single record they ever sold.
I'll give them a whirl. Enjoying my new Spotify account and trying out some some "new" music.
JimV,
Yes, probably a lot of folks acting like you say but not necessarily calling it "scaling" or defining it as an "official" strategy.
My "mistake" was filling my boots last summer/autumn, in a bit of a hurry (remember when some folks were talking of an Autumn'18 hook up & FOIL ?) and now reluctant to sell or buy any since I'm at my comfort limit.
I really didn't anticipate some of the dips we have seen. Should have kept some "powder" back for cheap bargains. Although, I did hoover up a few at about 43p. recently with pocket money. Paid between 33p and 60p over the last couple of years.
Hopefully they will all seem like a bargain soon.
Aduk to Street: "You've seemingly got a lot to learn."
This short article may be of interest to other less experienced investors like me.
Explains the merits of "scaling" in and out of a share to capture profits. Wish I'd followed this pattern a while back, but may use it in the future with HUR, if I can bring myself to part with some shares below my ultimate target, putting security before greed/optimism.

"Don't take off your top, till there's shoots on the hop" ?
Funnily enough, here in Glasgow, a sunny day in April or May can have folk walking about in T-shirts or even "tapps aff" (tops off). It doesn't need to be warm, just sunny and above say 13 C. Thus, in the streets, you can see people in T-shirts and shorts walking past others dressed in scarves, hats & coats.
We are getting frustrated that our assets ( the oil in the ground) have been delayed from exploitation. However the company has also to protect the asset that is the AM, the buoy, the workforce and all the gear we need to get the oil out.
We would be really upset if they damaged the buoy or turret or some other essential kit by having a go in sub-optimal weather. An old skipper I once knew explained to me that a captain will say "we are headed for" rather than "we are going to" because everything at sea is subject to change, often at the last minute. Bloody annoying though. Off out for a drink and hope no one spills my pint.
It will be interesting to see how the SP is valued during this hook up attempt. What was it last time? 50p ?
I'm wondering if "twice bitten, thrice shy" might apply this time and the SP will await solid confirmation of hook up before breaking the half-dollar?
All academic once hook up is solid, I know, just pondering because we are sat just below my break even point and I'm very, very keen to see the red £££'s disappear for good.
Anyway, enough of my idle lunch-time musings, I'll spare a thought for those aboard AM who are engaged in serious endeavour on the unwelcoming high seas West of Shetland as March comes in like a lion.
PS & OT: Re; others' weather sooth saying; I was told that the original phrase is "N'er cast a clout 'till THE May's oot". "The May" being the May flower or Hawthorn bush flower, which does like a bit of heat before blossoming.
Sov. 85 Don't take it personally. These bulletin boards can seem unfriendly places to the uninitiated.
It's probably because people may have tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds resting on the outcome of events. This, understandably, makes them wary and intolerant of any new poster who suddenly appears saying they have special information, which could affect the sentiment of shareholders, without first establishing their credibility and integrity.
There's also the fact that unscrupulous types pop on on BB's from time to time to try to influence the sentiment of holders to either encourage them to sell in fear (if said scoundrel is looking for cheap shares) or to buy more and push up the price ( if scoundrel has already bought). This makes holders understandably wary and interrogative of people who make claims to know about events.
It's a serious business for many, with life-changing amounts of money involved. Serious stuff.
DHC,
And good luck to you also. It's all about timing and mine was off. I'm sure you know what you are doing.
I've learned my lesson and have now returned to my previous "buy & hold" system. HUR is one I discovered myself and I have faith in. My winning shares have always been ones I sought out and understood the business model. The failures, ones where I stupidly got influenced by BB chat & enthusiasm. My own responsibility entirely.
I hope, and expect, HUR makes us all wealthier.
