Yup so it applies to electricity used for electrolysis - the question is that this happens at the manufacture of ammonia end, rather than perhaps solid state ammonia cracking (afterall, why would you get a levy discount when you are producing electricity when cracking ammonia and not useing electricity at that point).

just an image found of when electrolysis is used in the production of ammonia. So this tax change should help us as if we make ammonia we will not pay the tax, and if we buy ammonia it should be cheaper as the producer does not pay the tax, either way it's a win for us, even if not directly.

Stats - I do see where you are coming from but the whole thing is a massive grey area. I would say that selling before bad news is catagorically worse than buying before good news, for the reason that buying could just be replaced with company options instead (which can be awarded news or not).

I doubt that the Nomads are competent enough in most arears to really know the ins and outs, and as jgbb said it was already alluded to us that there is a large deal in the pipeline so it is then public knowledge. the signing of it is not but then it has not been signed yet (and even if the buys today and sign tomorrow that is still ok).

Constructivenews - yes that's how I understand it from other shares as well.

Negotiating a contract is not the same black out period as company financials from a director buy point of view as far as I understand.

I suspect selling shares is more of an issue with bad news on the way but buying is less of an issue with contracts incoming. Afterall they could just give themselves options and exercise any any time after the contract... so any director buying is welcome IMO

been saying the past couple of days there's good things here and really shouldn't be at this SP level. (excepting 30m of shorted shares between the two ne'rdowells).

Ade - not sure how you come to that conclusion. If they want to buy 4-5m shares it's going to cost them much much more than 5.6p for the lot. Shorts have to declare daily (when it changes more than i think 0.5% these days, used to be 0.1% changed Feb 2024 if I recall). so 0.5% on the 24th (Monday) SP was 6.25p average.

Director buys were before the short opened most likely as we've been about 6/6.5p since the beginning of March. Unless they got 0.49% in February then 0.01% on the 24th march. Opaque and shady as usual when an entity is stealing money from people.

Agreed both. I reckon the new shorters are US and I reckon Trump's gung-ho anti-green rhetoric won't work in the UK where Labour have already said they will support the green economy. I think the new shorters haven't really done their homework. hold tight and they'll have to buy all their 4-5m shares back at at least 12p. loverly jubbly

yes it is a chunk of shares. the new shorter notified 24/03 yet that day the SP was mostly flat. I assume they were soaking up the buys when selling their borrowed shares so it would have been higher. I have never heard of that company so I reckon it's a 2-bit outfit trying to be big boys.

Shorters don't always get it right so not sure why you think they are always right. They are trading it. E.G. JUB capital have messed up in the past and gone bankrupt for a start rofl.

Constructivenews - thanks for your points - 100% agreed. hence something smells here. i can't see anything in the RNSs about production paused - if it was just in some sort of video interview these aren't legally binding and hopefully it's a ruse to drag the shorts in, then burn them with contract news.

If I was managing a company I am pretty sure i get contacted by shorters all the time - and more so when there is good news. Key is not to give in and let the news do the talking. Rerate happens.

AS - also very true. if you sell your shares outside your ISA wrapper you can claim the capital loss on your tax return and put it against any future capital gain (shares as well as property). You can then rebuy those shares in the ISA (well, £20k worth anyway) or SIPP (get tax back from the government) and it is then protected from CGT.

Ginger - noone is selling at a loss. the rounded sell trades are the shorters increasing their short position - selling shares they don't actually own. This is why the process should be banned as it is in Europe. And then when the price drops due to selling other people's shares, some people sell, for some reason, thereby improving the odds for the shorters and 'validating' their hypothesis.

the truth is this company is a good company and if you can afford to load up on the lows then do so. New tax year new ISA allowance next week as well.

What's more impressive is it was hovering around 6p for most of the day and with a few £k's of AT trades in the last minute managed to drop 0.5p.

Suspect the new short might not be seeing much of a profit on this one - at 50p opening sure, at 6p opening, doubt it.

Ade - cash ISA reduction? pretty sure if you put money in a cash ISA you've been wasting money all these years when you could have put them in a Shares ISA and just piled into a US fund. So I don't think it'll do much to reduce the CASH ISA allowance.

Anyway. Back to AFC.

The Shares ISA is unchanged but I haven't yet heard if the reduction of the cash ISA will be applied or not.

If it does it can be from the start of the next Tax Year (next week) or at some other specified point in the future. Just to remind that the cash and shares ISAs used to only be £3000 until the Conservatives maxed it out in 2015 (was it?)
