Perhaps some bold soul should ring up the company and ask what on earth they are doing...if they cant find finance for a lithium deal then they must be in the wrong business....try something more low key like a food stall...
Abiratetone only delays death for a few months. Just lost another friend to prostate cancer...he was taken off abiratetone when his disease started to progress...couldnt cope with the pain and the tiredness..so he took his life. 0nly 70 and previously a fit active farmer. Since I took an interest in VAL I have lost 2 close friends and several acquaintances so do wish that we knew more about VAL 201 ...benefits ? Optimum dose...? All this secrecy is so frustrating.
Inspite of having given up hope of ever seeing my investment recover, it does sound as is if there is progress on all fronts...plodding... but forwards not backwards. 401 apparently will be first out of the gates with a JV...may be announced soon [Val speak for xx months] and 201 continues to produce good results...they are recruiting for dosing at the higher level...still only being trialled in advanced Ca prostate.....whereas it may eventually be used as a preventative or early disease modifier...after many of us have departed this planet I fear.
I feel quite cheated by the lack of any proper information on what has been happening. I feel as if we PIs are not considered worth the trouble of an update as to how many people are in these trials and what level of benefit has been seen. A con.
I think the planes were being built in the USA....
I heard this from a friend at a dinner party...I .posted about 2 months ago..her son is an aeronautical engineer..he was fitting the Seeing Machines kit into fighter planes so that if the pilot shows any signs of fatigue the computer in the plane takes over.
Most fellows taking finasteride do not complain about disturbance of sexual function. It does decrease the levels of some form of testosterone but not others...whereas the disturbance when taking some of the treatments for .ca prostate is very marked. The latter are much stronger anti androgens.
The disruption with finasteride is fairly minimal....most men who are taking it are middle-aged ++ and the decrease in sexual function is easily attributable to aging.
I have just read an article in an online medical journal that says that finasteride, which is already commonly used in men with prostatic enlargement definitely decreases the number of prostate cancer deaths. It is safe and effective. There is a small increase in high grade disease but overall the number of deaths is less. ! So it is an alternative to 201...and currently available.... come on DR Morris...get 201 moving !!
A " Bob " is a shilling...one twentieth of an old pound. Q.v. " bob- a - job" scouts money raising efforts circa 40 years ago !
I gather that SEE is providing the equipment for detecting pilot fatigue in military aircraft...this from a friend whose engineer son [who used to work for QinetiQ] now works in the USA...she knew the name Seeing Machines as her son is either working with them or using their product for making safety equipment such that as soon as fatigue is detected , the computer will take over flying the plane. Is this well known among you SEE experts ?
I disagree with A8. After a recent local fatal crash between a bus and a lorry...I think investigators will welcome technology that tells them what the respective drivers were looking at instead of checking for oncoming traffic.
Dr Dilly is very cheerful and has obviously received lots of encouragement from an American contact who will be able to help market 401 to potentially interested pharma in the USA. In the UK...she introduced various varieties of clinician and pharmacist to 401...needless to say they were all very positive ; hopefully someone will take the bait. Risperidone+ compound is well tolerated at the small dose she is using and the pharmacokinetics are well understood so there should be a market for it. She sounds confident and knows that we are all waiting anxiously for commercialisation.
I wonder if he knew about Dr Dillys negotiations before he bought in ? Thats the trouble with being a little PI...you are never infront of the knowlege....always lagging behind.
Precious not previous !!
I do hope Dr Dilly finds a suitable manufacturer for this interesting formulation. Until it is used in big numbers of patients we won't really get an idea of its usefulness but at the very least it is anti nauseant and calming and at the best it may slow up the cancer as well. Pancreatic cancer has no current chemo that works so you would lose nothing by trying 401...and as Dr D. says...every month of longer life is previous. I have faith in her to advance 401 in the near future.
I suspect they got side lined because they were too expensive. However, thanks to NHS/council cutbacks STD clinics are so difficult to access that the sales of chlamydia tests have increased markedly recently. I would be interested to know what happened to the Valrix tests too..!
The other problem with abiraterone is that not only does it cost upwards of 40,000 per patient year, and it does have marked side effects...it only palliates for about 18 months...as my friend has just proved. His PSA was reduced for about 15 months and now it has started its upward rise again...and he is getting thinner by the day. He has stoppped abiraterone and is now back on enzilutamib I think. I don't suppose Val 201 was offered although he is being treated in London at...I think...UCL. I keep on hoping that they will suddenly announce a "stop the trial " moment...
I am very keen to hear what is happening. I have a particular interest in 201 as it must have given some fairly reliable stats by now...and I m damned if I see why we shareholders should have to listen to more generalisations and uninformative waffle when want we want is some facts. !
I bought this share on the back of a the fact that a very bright son of a friend has started working for Synthomer as a chemist, and told his parents that they had lots of products on the drawing board and plans for expansion. Hope he is right !!
