Profit halved???? What happened to the promise of increased revenue from ITVX????

She needs to go. Her spending is not bringing in the the promised revenue. No excuse for that miscalculation.

Jed, Pogo and PokeCaza can all do one with their weak apologies for a CEO who is failing all of us. McCall needs to fall on her sword and go without taking any garden leave or payment.

Can someone please translate? Pogos posts come from a place in his/her brain that is hard for the majority of sane people to follow.

Channel 4 is one of the biggest buyers of drama. All has to be bought from independents studios. That stipulation keeps the valuation of many studios who produce content high. If C4 dropped out as a potential buyer for drama tomorrow, then ITV would see the bid price for many studios drastically reduce.

It makes sense to remove C4 from the marketplace for content. Drive prices down and then take the better studios into ITV ownership with the idea to sell UK made content to overseas markets after airing on free to view tv on ITV1.

Lets see. C4 and BBC are out there bidding for the same shows as ITV. ITV missed out on Gladiators to a tax funded bid????

Time to reduce the number of state funded bidders for TV shows. Bring down the costs across the whole industry and give ITV C4'S back catalogue for free. Reduce the cost of news production by incorporating ITN's C4 news with ITV news output.

It is not right that ITV are going up against two state funded bidders. If the UK government want to keep some free to air tv services which are independent and not reliant on tv license money then they need to reduce competition and hand over advertising sales to just the one boardcaster (C5 is minimal audience).

A better BoD would have persuaded the government to offload C4. Not hard to persuade a Tory pro business government that a state asset that is losing tax payers money would be better in private hands They would also be handing it to UK management and a CEO who is part of teh political establishment rather than Murdoch or some horrible state owned business fund.

Maybe a Keir Starmer Cabinet may be more open to neogiation especially as McCall is ex Guardian, just you know there will be a considerable section of the Labour party that will oppose C4 going back to private ownership.

I believe there is the possibility for C4 to be flipped. Made profitable, jobs secured and UK production companies boosted. It needs a rigorous business leadership that can utilise its back catalogue and sell to advertisers. It would reduce some of the bidding that goes on for top rated shows and help bring costs down for ITV and BBC. Bake Off going to Channel 4 for millions was a joke. It reached a wider audience on BBC and C4 paid over the odds.

Too much dithering by the Dame. C4 needs to be wound up and moved to ITV to manage.

Retracing as the Board always fail to follow up with good news. They are a media company. They should be expert at putting out positive news stories and spin. Yet from this lot we get silence.

The sale of Britbox now needs to be followed by a positive story every week. Buyout of C4 at a very low price would generate lots of coverage. Anything along those lines to show the CEO is taking a more expansion driven approach rather than trying to hold back the tide of falling advertising and viewing figures.

Time ITV went on the offensive and caught the nay sayers off guard.

The sell off of Channel 4 was officially abandoned last year but still, behind the scenes, ITV execs should be sounding out government ministers. The Channel is loss making. Costing the tax payers money. Smart thing to do would be to merge it with ITV and allow one company to dominate advertising and commissioning of shows. Channel 4 content on ITVX and on ITV would generate revenue with less overheads. ITV could still commission films for Film 4 and bring through drama and comedy.

So a £1 buyout by ITV enabling ITV to continue to produce the same output only with lower costs and more buying power with independent studios. There are not the viewing figures anymore to justify C4. Smart move would be to move it to ITV and back out of public ownership. No company is going to want to take on debt to finance the buyout of a loss making channel so best handed to ITV who can manage the productions and generate revenue to keep the jobs.

So they are signalling that they are prepared to sell assets if necessary to buy shares and defend against a hostile takeover? Anything to keep their current salaries and share options intact? Long term damaging to business and revenues but at least us small guys would benefit.

Mary is probably giving the best buy and exit points of anyone now on the forum. I was consistent up until September when I abandon my position of not buying and bought back in at 70p down to 66p on the idea that the Dame could not last.

AllI will add at this point is that the SP has fallen previously after Full Year Results. Seems to stagnate over spring and summer and then drops off in autumn. Anytime after the ex dividend date in April seems to be a good exit point when you want to switch for other shares that perform better.

Once we get the FYR out of the way next week it should be possible to see if the CEO and Board can inspire rapid rises here or if we are going to see a SP that deflates to the 50s again.

All buying at this point now over 60p comes with huge risk. Anything could happen with the Dame at next weeks results. Maybe more annoucements. Could go back to 50s. Could go back above 70p. Spin the wheel. Nothing is predictable with ITV share price.

Pogo yes the Russian troll is silent. They do not even exist. I am thankful that we have you though. You were right to tell us 80p by end of February. Hopefully people bought in the 50s and are now sat on a healthy profit.

I will schedule a video chat with the Dame for later today. With a suitable replacement we could be getting deals like this done on a monthly basis rather than once every 6 years. Then the City would sit up and take notice if we had a CEO who actively traded. Bought media assets, grew them, flipped them and sold them at a huge profit. You only need one successful format (Peppa Pig) and then you can sell a studio for 100s of millions.

Winnie you have the likes of myself and Contrarian to thank for this. Shareholder protests have kept the pressure up on the board to realise the value of the assets they hold. The Share Price has been made a priority again rather than handouts to chums in the studios to commission yet more gameshows.

Jed I am ecstatic. This was what I was hoping for from day 1 of Carolyn's time at ITV. It has taken 6 years but finally she has pulled her finger out and prioritised the SP and us shareholders. Who knows if reading negative sentiment on message boards has influenced this decision.

This is great news and you guys are quick. The story only broke 20 minutes ago? Exactly the sort of thing that was needed to support the Share Price. Should hopefully push us back over 60 today. Pogo's 80p by end of February might just be out by 1 day.

Mob rule? This is not inciting violence or abuse. This is merely asking for a leader who has repeatedly failed to resign. Stop rewarding failure. Stop rewarding someone who covered up for sexual predators. Stop rewarding someone whose actions were so poor that Parliament summoned her and she along with her sidekick Lygo repeated "no mistakes were made" and lied through their teeth, after having put ITV employees who worked on "This Morning" through persecution and trial by media for their association with Schofield. Holly Willoughby was persecuted as part of "Holly and Phil" by the media and the Dame left her out there to take the flak knowing full well that the press were gunning for Schofield because of his abusive behaviour and grooming of vulnerable men.

How many suicides on the Dames watch? She has failed in her duty of care but you would step up to defend her? Something she did not do for the many victims at ITV.

Laughable? So you think that nobody in ITV reads this forums? Tries to guage shareholder opinion? Yes it is a remote chance but the possibility is always there and for that reason it is worth trying.

Doing a good job? Lets see when she took over ITV was on an equal level to Sainburys and BT in terms of valuation. Now it is below Greggs who are in a sector hit even harder than media with the cost of food impacting their profit margins. Small high street retailer at best.

Silence is the worst thing you can do. I see that with my Russian girlfriend and how her unwillingness to criticise her President just empowers mismanagement of a country.

Sorry but ITV investors are paying twice the price that Greggs are paying and they got the real deal. Woman who did Business Law and Business managment. Glaswegian no nonsense. She worked her way up through retail and did not chop and change to get ahead. She knows her industry.

McCall is a liar. She has no ideas as to how to grow revenue and just blames the general malaise in the UK/European economy where as Roisin is keeping prices low, paying staff more and driving additional sales.

Pinochio Dame needs to be shuffled on.
