MIrasol, but it will become cheap and quick when our government as always takes the easy quick way out i.e. by forcing the issue of planning. Given inflation in development costs, offshore development will be mainly confined to developing existing producing fields by drilling more wells and that is still expensive. Onshore is a no brainer for the government to encourage and local opposition will fizzle when faced with 'national emergency' blah blah rubbish. Despite the fact that increased oil production will increase the take to the Exchequer it is of no benefit, other than jobs in the industry, to the UK consumer.

North Sea development costs more and takes considerably longer than onshore investment and development. Government will always takes the easy option to get more production. So I think that planning restrictions onshore will soon become a thing of the past.

ItsAW - I see her / him and many others on here as addicted to posting notices mostly through a time when the Chairman has virtually ceased communicating with shareholders because he is rightly fed up with the constant barrage of criticism from those who have little else to do with their time. What is the point of this constant torrent of verbage saying the same things over and over again? Given the global environment at the moment there is no safer place to be than invested in this company and its just a matter of time before we become the biggest onshore producer in UK. The Wressle results are remarkable and the future looks very promising.

Admittedly a bombed out share but still can't see it being anything like the money spinner that Wressle will be and all the hassle of futher expense. And this is without the other promising fields that UJ part owns plus royalties on existing Piper and Claymore production. But that's AIM for you.

Wressle is proviing to be a money machine. Why so little interest in times past such announcements would send any SP soaring ? Perhaps investors hark back to the 'old days' of disastrous placings and so forth but those days are long past and with Wressle alone we will soon be making alot of money at 40% or whatever. Especially once they open up the chokes but then I suppose we'll have to go through another drawn out planning application meeting and all the other shenanigans.

I read that the government is considering revisiting the fracking rules in view of the escalating gas prices. Bit late for all this but surely it would be more sensible to look at existing convential drilling systems first?

Timescale? You have to be joking especially when you look back over the history of Wressle. Any timescale issued when oil was found would have been totally meaningless and this applies to anything to do with oil expro, few punters seem to understand the complexities of oil exploration and production even if it is onshore. Look at how long the proppant squeeze took alone with all the moaning and groaning on here about whether or not it was going to be successful or not.

Ninretails -Gas and water injection were the norm offshore mostly NOT the hydraulic fracturing which is proposed fracking method onshore. .Gas re-injection and water injection 'pushes oil and gas ' out when it can no longer be recovered by 'normal' methods. In the many years I spent offshore admittedly up till the mid 90's I never once heard the term fracking to describe recovering those hard to get at reserves of gas and oil. Bearing in mind most of the oil is not recoverable but not so much of the gas is left hence the need for hydraulic fracturing onshore.

I think talk of fracking is a complete red herring. There is no way they would need to frack. None of the gas fields in the Southern N.sea were ever fracked, which would be pretty much impossible even with the latest technology , offshore fracking never heard of it, and there were plentiful supplies of gas in those fields. Horizontal, extended reach, drilling without fracking should be more than enough to start and I don't recollect any restrictions on that. Perhaps we should just wait and see as ever. I am certain they won't (or can't) turn down the amended reduction in wells.

No way will this go ahead in the UK unless the government goes against everything it has been saying, but then we do have a PM who changes his mind at the drop of a hat. There are too many scare stores around fracking gas, some true some false, and conventional production is an option that the government could more than justify in the UK in today's climate. There are no perceived problems but fracking is all a 'bit new' for the UK. There is much less room to explore and develop without raising fears from nearby conurbations. Not a problem in the US given the huge areas that can be producing with little environmental threat. Conventional wells win hands down.

we are back to the old 'pump and dump' routine. Thought that this AIM game had been killed off for a time but obviously is resuscitated and live and well.

you pays your money and you takes your choice (or not) If the truth was known many companies are in AIM to raise startup money and once on their way, if they ever make it, small private shareholders are often regarded as a pain. But not always. More often than not they just use us to further their ends and have little consideration for their small shareholders other than to keep them onboard at critical times.
