Kulabkhan - agreed and STI carries more risk than most. If you're invested here look at why you invested. This stock carries big reward potential with big risk, which is why I wont go big here, but will add little by little as news develops.

I can see why you guys are frustrated here and quite understandable, but there's potential here although it's a risky share (but doesn't every share carry a risk). I've bought in here today with a small initial investment and will be very happy to add in the future. I never ramp or deramp but just say things as I see them. I guess there's guys here who are quite a bit down here but i'd just say continue to look at why you invested in the first place. I did that in AST, HNR, URU, all of which are down, but i'm staying out there because I still believe in the companies. The same is true here - there's arguable been no bad news.

Anyone care to hazard a guess on what price the bottom will be and what recovery can be expected? 140p for example or could it go below £1? Also what odds on a recovery to where we were at the beginning of March??

I have a small position here and am thinking o adding due to the depressed sp, but do you guys think further financing is inevitable? I know it wouldn't necesarily depress the sp further but would be nice to know. This is always going to be a medium/long term investment hence i'm in no rush to add immediately. But with broker recommendations in excess of £1, i'm delighted to be here.

Evening gents. Been in here for a while and now sitting on a small loss. Surely this is too low a sp for a company with the potential like this? I'm just placing my shares under the mattress for another day. No intention of selling at a loss. Have a good Easter break

Nothing wrong in selling to limit a loss or bank a small profit. I've been guilty in the past of not doing that! Coupled with your observations, the recent low was no lower than that seen in December plus the recent high in January was higher than previous peaks. So my simplistic view that for now we're still in a general upturn in the sp, so 520 would be perfect.

I'm staying with BP for the next few days. Still a general up trend in the SP. I'm gambling on a slow upturn in the next few days which will confirm we're still in a general uptrend. Couple that with the steady increase in oil price and all looks good here.

JMO and Borgy - good comments. For my part i've stayed in overnight but will will come out of my long bet in the morning. I'd rather take a small loss and use my cash for better prospects elsewhere.

well done Borgy. I've gone long @ 447p as well this morning. Will just leave it to fester for a few months.

Don't get me wrong Borgy i'm not an expert by a long way with L2 and it consistently proves me wrong however I do pay attention to the depth of a stock - i.e.how many buy/sell orders are on the book at any one time. So for example if there's a lot of depth on the ask side (orders for sale) then this is a weaker signal in simple terms. However with a stock like BP there's multiple trades going through every minute so its difficult to keep track of things. I don't have the time or money to do multiple trades minute by minute like the pros but find it fascinating to see how many times I get it right re predicting rises and falls. Not much help probably but there was a lot of stock for sale today most of the time so I decided to hold off as i have no intention of shorting this stock. I for one would welcome any more comments re L2 as I'm very keen to learn. Cheers

Excellent thanks Borgy. L2 looked quite weak today for most of the time so have held off. I'll keep and eye on things over the next day or so and decide. I'm like you in that even if i get in at 460p+ then at least there will then have been a good positive indicator to reach that level in the first place. I'm pretty fully committed elsewhere so will look at a long spread bet probably until Sept. All the best

I guess arguable we've seen an upward trend since it hit 330p is last April so if the current SP doesn't drop below 440p (Nov 2106), and moves up from there, then we're still in the uptrend? Any dip below 440p would see me holding off longer. I'd welcome your comments.

So it's the analysts v the chartists?? I too can see 550p-600p in a year but in the meantime it's how much will the sp waver. I took a loss last week but am now of the opinion i'll watch and wait for a couple of weeks to see what trend I see. I enjoy the charting side of things as well so Borgy what rise would you need before you could see and end to the descending cycle?

Agreed - I've just sold up again to limit my loss. May have been a bad decision to buy in here just now. I bough on the drop after the dividend but will now keep an eye on things
