RE: Flu.22 Mar 2020 17:40
I have to say the level of fear and panic from the media may be more deadly than the virus. However there is a spilt with some people not listening at all! Here's my thoughts including a few companies..
- The flu of 2018 was quite a bad one. 300,000-500,000 estimated deaths.
- Today we stand at 12,000 odd for Covid-19 (Yes this will rise, it's taken a week to double)
- Everyone who has a cold or flu thinks it's covid-19 as testing is not happening to the level it should be.
- I came from a locked down Europe with heat scanners at bars last week into Gatwick without a test, heat scan, check or question.
- If the media spent 29mins of every 30 telling you about deaths and hot spots in 2018 it would be far worse than this so far.
- The economic fall out from these actions may kill more from poverty, mental illness and suicide than the virus.
- That's not to take away the deadliness of this strain to the weak and older populations. We need to act.
However as a human race we are collectively very stupid. I travel a lot and over the years have caught a lot of cold/flu. People with colds and flu's should always self isolate, wear masks and try not to spread it. We should have heat scanners at events and ports and people with temperatures should be refused entry. As someone who is self employed, a cold can still cost me a weeks work at times as I'm not performing to the same level. Some employers still expect workers to come in when ill with colds, and most travel when ill. It's just not on.
Rather than running scared and panicking the nations of the world. Would an logical approach not work better?
Large scale testing from the likes of NCYT so we can identify and isolate the sufferers of this virus as quickly as possible.
Treatment hopefully from the likes of SNG, TEK and many other Pharma's working on solutions right now. Thailand had success months ago with SARS and HIV drugs (114 infections today). Scanning at large events from companies like WSG. Clearance for those who are negative to work and carry on as normal with the obvious precautions necessary at these times. masks, gloves, cleaning regularly etc.
Going forward technology from the likes of SYM's D2P should be in manufacturing processes by law, plastics that are touched, paints etc. Not proved effective against the virus yet but anti fugal and anti bacterial. Test are ongoing on viruses right now. This one has so much potential and now is the time to make these changes that benefit us all from less chance of illness in many forms.
What I'm trying to say is I think we should all calm down, and think clearly in times like these. The media is panicking people far to much. Some who suffer anxiety are not well right now.
Problems give us opportunities for solutions and better futures with less problems.
Please take the advice and self isolate if ill. Please take precautions when out to stop the chance of catching.
Please keep calm, we may be able to car
