The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
With cost of living crises in U.K. people will stop having pizza etc deliveries. Plus restaurants will have to put up prices of food delivered as they are not protected by energy price cap. People will be asking do I hear my house for 2 days or have a pizza delivered.
I guys, I bought in today at 115.7p , can’t believe this price! Can I join your guesstimates for next week. I recon will finish at 1.21.4 next Friday.
Well this evening after much deliberation I have decided I need to take hit on Marston. Bought in at 0.92, 21,000 shares going to move to ITV safer in time of energy prices and staff shortages. Plus people will be at home watching TV as Pub to expensive. Very sad, I like Marston but risk to high in these extraordinary times.
I don’t believe this will go much lower. Quality company, producing a product people require, with a better supply chain than other building companies as own Brick, tile and frame manufacturing. No Debt, big land bank and cash in the bank. I’m sticking.
Watch the drop on Nat West, I got court out on the AV consolidation. Sold all my NWG, timing not perfect 16500 shares at 2.54 but feeling safe!
AV will rise, again I sold pre div, bought back on Friday and did slightly better than if had held.
Think this maybe way forward.
And ya the Chinese were honest about Covid! I go to China regularly (until travel restrictions) I am one of the owners of International Graphic Supplies, if you check we import CAD cutters from China. We have agency for U.K. and Ireland.
We were due to go to All in Print China (Oct 11 to 15th), followed by a visit to the new manufacturing site.
They have warned us it’s not a good idea to go, the virus is spreading and is dangerous. Others in the know will also have this info. Don’t forget Covid was about for months before we were told. My business partner and I had Covid December 2019 from and engineer we flew in. I was very ill for 4 weeks (very ill).
No, I believe the airline stocks are getting hit because of the Langya virus. It is spreading in China, my business partner and I have cancelled our trip to China (Shanghai) on advice from our Chinese suppler. It seems it’s far worse than is being currently reported by Chinese authorities.
45 percent of the cost in building a house is the land. persimmons added lots of plots. In fact enough added (to existing) to cover their requirements for the next 5 years . A forward and sensible move. Then they have increased their capacity to make bricks, tiles and frames, again a great move. They may now not have as much money in the bank but with inflation I would rather they used the money to reduce future costs (as they have done). I don’t take to much notice of what analyst forecast. I use my own eyes, listen to the news etc and I recon land prices will go up (inflation) and there is a massive requirement for homes, like the ones Persimmon build. My opinion, dividend will stay the same, people will realise and share price will rise. Good luck to all!
Was meant to be visiting a Chinese supplier in October. We have been contacted this morning and told not to go. New Covid variant called Langya in China. Very dangerous according to contact. Seems it came from a shrew.
Just had a meal (with my 30% off voucher) at the Paisley Pear with a group of friends. I was very impressed, food was great, liked the choice of food available and the staff were brilliant, friendly and attentive. They place was busy, inside and out. People will still want to go out for a nice meal but maybe something cheaper like a Marstons. The main subject of conversation was bills going up, electric, food, petrol but everyone thought the Marston food was good value
I was lucky, had 8500+ Evraz spread over ISA and SIPP. I got out when Russia went into Ukraine (also sold POG shares). I have 4 shares in my ISA that HL has offered to make into certificate holding and 40 left in my SIPP that no offer of certificate has been made. Does that mean people with them in SIPP are stuck.
I loved this share, dividends were fantastic. Held for many years for income. I would love to strangle Putin for what he has done to Ukraine and the world. I’m sure the were many who lost a lot on this one.
