It's a positive (we all hope!) announcement about Aussie progress that will really move the SP here, I suspect.

I see it as the single uncrossing trade where buyers on the bid and sellers on the ask match together in a single trade, such as at the end of an auction period. So it may be shown as a "buy" but it will be a mixture of buys and sells and will usually be marked "UT".

870k is clearly shown as an uncrossed trade at the end of the day - it's not a buy.

I also had difficulty with some of the accounting but thought that was just down to me! They also need to recruit someone who can write a decent RNS - the last one was poorly put together. Nice recovery in the share price today though.

PAF is an example of a company listed on AIM and elsewhere - in the case of PAF (which I hold, and am very happy with), the company is also listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange.

The HOC results were not that impressive. GGP was down. This seems to be part of a general trend this morning. I have just bought some more PAF.

Welcome back. I have no intention of selling myself until I see that Cobus is selling (and I certainly don't see that happening anytime soon)!

I hold PAF, HOC and GGP (but my biggest shareholding is PAF), and I take a mid to long-term view. I anticipate significant rises for all three when the next results are announced. I remain positive about the mid-term. Is the POG likely to collapse? Very unlikely in my view. So HOLD.

But over 77% of PAF is owned by hedge funds and institutional investors.

I completely agree with what has been said about looking to the long term (and not getting obsessed with daily fluctuations). The trend is an upward one, which is the fundamental point here. My understanding is that arrangements are in place to allow PAF shares to be traded in the US (although not directly on Wall Street) as well as JSE and London. Moving from the AIM to a full listing is, I think, a fairly complicated procedure, and I am not sure that the company management is particularly interested in doing this right now (particularly since institutional investors control around 77% of PAF).

One almost (but not quite) feels a tiny bit sorry for Marshall Wace!

PIC runs a diversified investment portfolio and controls over 10% of the SA Stock Exchange. I would be very surprised if they launched a takeover bid for PAF—that doesn't seem to be what they do. I think that they see PAF as an excellent investment.

BPat890 - Yes. It would be interesting to know precisely why Tembo disposed of their entire holding though. As you say, the identity of the buyer may become apparent before long.

58.7m shares sold at a discount. I have seen this happen with other stocks and there is almost inevitably a bit of a pull-back in the share price. It just disrupts the momentum temporarily. What is interesting is whether someone is planning to submit a take-over bid.

I would love to know how Marshall Wace got on with their short position. I can't imagine that it was hugely successful for them. Doubt if we will see them back here for a while!
