Charles - I don't disagree with what you say about PAF's future prospects and the POG, etc. But how is PAF going to enter the FTSE 250? To do so, would it not have to delist from the AIM and then issue a fresh prospectus?

Looking to the future, I would have said that a very relevant factor here is debt reduction/elimination.

Got back in this morning. I'm leaving these now until September. Not sure the share buybacks (as from tomorrow) will, in isolation, move the SP much; but every little helps.

Bustard - I take your point about stop-losses; there is no right or wrong answer. Several years ago, I became emotionally wedded to a stock and watched it fall and fall until, eventually, I lost a lot of money (for me at that time). I determined that, so far as possible, I wouldn't allow that to happen to me again. Is PAF in that category? Almost certainly not. Anyway, I will see what happens next week and look forward to getting back in soon. I accept that, in my position right now, there could be a sudden spike; it's the risk one takes. Good luck all.

Hmm ... I wonder if there is some negative news about to break? I sincerely hope that is not the case. But Arrowstreet has increased its short position and the sp is dropping daily. I have made good profits from PAF over the last 12 months but getting close to my current stop-loss position.

I agree that nothing much is likely to happen here before September. Regarding the share disposal, Cobus probably just needed the cash for his new Porsche! He still has a significant shareholding.

This time last year, the SP was circa 23/24p. So, in a year, the SP has doubled. We are heading in the right direction. So where will we be in twelve months (everything being equal)? No one knows; but judging on past history (and barring unforeseen disasters), I like to think that 100p might be achievable

Still only 0.71% though. If it was 7.1%, I would be seriously worried.

I have toyed with the idea of selling and buying back at the end of August. But who knows what the POG might be then? A significant hike in gold might lift these a bit eventually. So have decided to sit tight and hope for better things in September.

All this is true. But whichever way you cut it, PAF has cut full-year production guidance, which is disappointing. This is why the share price is "stuck" for the time being. can't see a significant upward shift in the short term (hope I am wrong!). Conversely, there is little downside here unless the POG collapses (highly unlikely).

I spent a lot of time on this last time around - all to no avail. Got nowhere with Link or Computershare. Now, I will just accept the divi with a smile and ignore the SA withholding tax!

Patryk221 - many thanks for your post. "There will be an update later this month" - this is very encouraging (I hope!). I like the phrases "ahead of schedule" and "below budget".

If the Aussie activities are ahead of schedule (as someone mentioned on the board), we are highly likely to get an announcement within the next 3/4 weeks that will blast this through 50p (hopefully)! Have a good weekend all.

Marshall Wace had a short position on PAF for many months (the share price rose fairly consistently throughout that period). I always felt that there was something more going on there than a simple "bet" that the share price would fall.

Absolutely, Sotolo. It gives the impression that there is more bad news on the production front. I would feel reassured if they said something like "There was a problem that we identified and dealt with. And we now have systems and people in place to address this issue and enable the company to move forward with confidence."

"A big day". Er ... why? I don't see why we should suddenly jump 7/8% when there are serious questions regarding potential production problems.

I suspect that the short is a bit more complex than that, hedgehog. Someone explained to me once that it had to do with the lag between the POG moving and the SP moving. The explanation was slightly beyond me; but there may be more to it than an "out and out" short.
