The purpose of a thickener is to clearly increase viscosity of the continuous phase.

Increase in viscosity reduces the separation rate. May be required if the densities of the materials is too similar as you'll need more.time to achieve appropriate separation of the mica from the spodumene

Jaglith pH adjustments are very straightforward...just a cade of adding mre Sulphuric acid or Sodium hydroxide.

I think they had issues with separating the Mica but that can be very easily in acidic media

Its the particle size distribution that is the key intermediate quality attribute. With the mill now sorted they are achieving the correct PSD. This milled product then travels through a cyclone system. The Physical dimensions of a cyclone determine which particles remain in the continuous phase and which are collected or removed. They want to remove the sub 28 micron particles as they creat challenges with intraparticulate interactions downstream.

The flotations aspects are more chemistry orientated using pH to induce flocculation etc. It should be fairly straightforward once you have the right PSD going in....
