The decay in the personal morals of those who purport to govern us is also a huge contributory factor. The Man on the Clapham Omnibus sees senior politicians sticking up two fingers to civilised behaviour while lecturing the rest of us on how to behave and says to himself " f..k that for a game of soldiers-if they can do so can I" and who can blame him.
There are of course those politicians who play by the rules but but by so doing they condemn themselves to a life on the
back benches.
I suspect a lot of us have been around for quite a long time. For myself I do not recall a time when my Country was in such a mess, financially, morally and socially all of which ills can be placed fairly and squarely on the shoulders of p..s poor government. A country, like a company is (or should be) run from the top downwards, not t'other way round.
The only way round this as I see it is for citizens to start taking the initiative, get off their sitting bits from in front of the mindless pap being peddled by the TV companies, and start saying to government at all levels ENOUGH-WE'VE HAD ENOUGH: start listening to what WE want not what you THINK we want decided over G&T with the chaps at the Houses of Parliament taxpayer subsidised bar.
(PS latest scandal- Government has reneged on an agreement to fund water supplies to Nepalese villages thus demonstrating, once again, how to spit in the eyes of staunch allies, in this case a people who have provided fierce little fighting men to the British Army for 208 years. At the same time we have now given the French about £750 million to stem the flow of immigrants across the channel-result zilch.
I rest my case.
