My take on the AGM25 Jan 2019 23:06
Just to add to what the others have already posted up today.
The room was packed, I estimate around 45 people in total, I think last year there was more like 9 or so, that says to me there are a lot of people very interested in the future of the business.
It was evident from the conversations both before & after the meeting that there has been a great deal of activity on numerous fronts and the frustrations at not completing the deals is felt internally as well as externally with the PI's.
The business has been run by AM in an almost dictatorial way and his belief that we as shareholders are lucky to have him around ( that's my read on it ), I believe that approach has been stifling the work that others in the business have been able to do, most notably Alison & Simon. I believe that is now in the past, for those that question the autonomy that Graham has to break out from Alan's shadow / control it was evident in the way that Graham headed off Alan in the Q&A session as every time Alan tried to answer Graham clearly demonstrated that he is the man in charge, both verbally and with almost a " police stop " hand gesture, you could see Alan itching to pitch in but Graham didn't let him. Graham controlled the situation.
Graham handled the whole presentation impeccably, he was sympathetic to our feelings, engaging without be disparaging to the way the business has been run to date, a very delicate path to tread that he did well. My take from that is that he is a people person and defiantly the sort of person I want sat around the table negotiating a deal, we have a massively improved chance of closing a deal with this approach than the one that I believe Alan would have taken.
The GTW is now front and centre, it felt like these are less complex deals to conclude than the likes of Brazil ( that Graham confirmed is still live & we are engaged with via " our " man in country. It was also interesting to hear that we don't have any real competition in the GTW space, my guess is that the 1st deal that we will close will be GTW.
I also get the impression that we may well start to focus on a few less things in order to conclude others and not spread ourselves too thin, to this effect & my own personal view is I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if we walked away from GHS, I think this has become a distraction to the far bigger spoils.
We have more people in the business than we realise and they come with some good track record, as an example there was Gerald who is the project finance guy that previously worked at Echo & Sound, the guy leading the GTW is ex Rolls Royce, I made the point to Simon that this is the sort of information that needs to be communicated out, moving forward I think that it will.
All in very positive and good to me some of the cyber community !
Roll on this year it's looking good
