The ENI and Santos was just an extension to their already in place JV, Bayu Undan was ENI/Santos and SK Korea , who last read now also own part of their Darwin facilities , likewise ENI Evans Shoal and Barossa they had plans to develop together via the Barossa HUB and almost complete new pipeline to Darwin.
It's no mistake they when no one interested in the TL Bid round , each Cherry picked the two most prominent ,on trend licenses , Wider Bayu Area R (Santos) area P ENI, long thought to be the host to the Hydrocarbon Kitchen that feeds both our Chuditch license and Greater Sunrise.
2 years ago Japan Gov gave out TRILLIONS to it's companies , to go out and secure its future, that was extended to Woodside about 18 months ago , with INPEX and all Japanese companies available to assist if/when required, with the lot backed by Japan's own Government Bank to finance.
TotalEnergies in the area as are Exxon , BP and many others, South East and Western OZ, Unless they make a move, still see the above players as our most likely combo with Japan/OZ looking for the offtakes.
