Letter from Equiniti about the investigation. Seems the trades executed on Friday were settled by CREST but the money was not handed over from CREST to Equiniti. PWC are supposed to instruct CREST to hand over the cash but they havent. Equiniti cannot pay us as that would mean handing over money that belongs to some other customer. Not sure where to go next
Shorting does not necessarily precipitate a company collapse. Far from it. In fact shorting has proven to be a proven mechanism to predict the future of a company. If a company is genuinely doing good business, its books will show that and a shorter will obviously have no interest in shorting a stock which might never go down.
On what news exactly is this going to bounce up? The only way it will go up is when shorts start closing out their positions which I doubt will happen at the 150 p level. Most pension funds would be dumping stock since there is a no mid term chance of a dividend. The only punters buying are short term profit seekers and some hoping there will be a takeover approach.

Response from Self Trade ****************************** GoodMorning Thank you for your message We work on a three trading days settlement for trades placed through our service. As you placed the trade on Friday 12th the trade was due to settle on Tuesday 16th, As Carillion shares were suspended on 15th January the market would not let us settle the trade so the funds cannot be paid, Your contract notes states that the settlement date would be 16 Jan 2018. I am sorry but if you require further assistance please contact an independant financial advisor.
@justthoughtidsay, I used self trade for the trade. Still no response to my complaint. I hardly sell shares, this is just the second time I have done it, so I cannot figure out where the issue is. They claim they did not receive any cash from settlement. Is it possible ? Surely the buyer would have had his cash taken, so where is the cash stuck ?
@fairdealer20, I sold my shares at 14:00 on Friday and the money was in my account sometime later that day. Got the email on Tuesday. Exact same email as Stanc, so I am guessing the same template email was sent to everyone who traded in Carillion on Friday. What I do not understand is, why the Liquidator should be involved as this is a simple share sale.
I have also received an email from Equiniti about my sale of shares on Friday. The cash has disapeared from my account and the email says CREST/Liquidator. My complaint to them has not been replied yet. Is this situation normal ?
