HI Inthetin,
Just a quick search found the CC Final Results for the Year Ended 31 March 2023 , published on 26th July 23. So just a few months ago everything seemed to be OK with Genus.
" The third order, CyanConnode's largest order in its history, was for 1 million units, received by Genus for a deployment in South Bihar. To the end of March 2023, a total of 81,000 modules and associated gateways had been shipped against this contract, with a further 109,000 shipped during Q1 FY24, bringing the total modules shipped against these contracts at the end of June 2023 to 190,000."
If any significant material change to the original MOU then I would have thought it would have to be announced in the same manner as the original award was announced.
So hopefully, for now just radio silence regarding who Genus will award their contracts too.
Morning Tony,
That's a good point regarding the rewards for fast track installations before December 2023.
I think this is the actual wording
"To incentivize the States/UTs to fast-track installation of prepaid Smart Meters by December 2023, an additional incentive of 7.5% of the cost per consumer meter or Rs. 450 (whichever is lower) shall be available. For “Special Category” States the additional incentive shall be 11.25% or Rs. 675 per consumer meter (whichever is lower)."
Its possible that both Intellismart and Genus both tried to take advantage of this offer when they set up the Framework agreements with Cyan - at that time they did no know how many they would be able to install, yet had some type of goal.
It is not as if they have to install a minimum amount in all areas / regions and utilities that they have won tenders, just get permission from utilities to install as many as possible before end of December 23 - so they could all be installed under one Utility in theory or spread far and wide across many.
So maybe the Intellismart and Genus framework agreements where a way of ensuring quick supply by year end 2023, to access Incentives. Will there be more incentives for 2024?
Once meter supply was in place it would be down to contract wins, and permissions to install from the utility / customers.
Just a thought on the back of your own earlier post. GL Vas
Does anyone wonder why the there is no news ( as far as i can see) regarding the early AMISPs whom where awarded a contract this last summer or earlier ...they have not yet announced their sub contractors ? could it be due to competition ! , even though sub contractors have been chosen, the radio silence in announcing these awards to sub contractors will continue to be kept under raps until the bulk of contracts are announced.
I only mention this because i have not found a single award that looks like a AMISPS award to a sub contractor.... even though i do not know how this would be presented to the press, their is a very obvious lack of news from the millions of meters awarded to AMISPS much earlier in the year ...
Genus are awarded new contracts on a regular basis but many do not identify the region or utility that it is related too.
So why would they announce sub contractors at this stage !

Morning LT.
Todays CC tweet is most likely a gentle heads up regarding the "ISGF SMART METER CYBER SECURITY CONFERENCE 2023" co-hosted by ISGF & @Intelli_Smart " , which s held today in Delhi ! I like the title of this years event which is
" Holistic Securitisation of the Smart Metering Ecosystem".

Nice find gizzmo. Thanks
"PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) has begun the process of empanelment of Advance Metering Infrastructure Service Providers (AMISP) for projects under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)". ...."mandated to provide an indicative quote to state government/state discoms on per-meter-per-month basis."...."The empanelment process is scheduled to close on December 8, 2023 and technical bids will be opened on the same date."

Morning LT,
Yes, shows a certain confidence in developments in India , i think.
I find this quietly encouraging as I am sure that they know a great deal more than i do , about future prospects in India and beyond.
Well I hope so, at any rate.
"Indian AMI provider IntelliSmart has announced a partnership with California-headquartered Trilliant for a head-end system "
From what i can see from this and other reports is that its this partnership involves "cellular network interface controllers (NICs) ."

another report
"Trilliant, a leading international provider of solutions for advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), smart grid, smart cities and IIoT, today announced it has been selected by IntelliSmart Infrastructure Private Limited, a leading Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) and digital solutions provider in India, as one of its software partners for its Head-end System (HES) cellular implementations."

Morning LT,
Many Thanks for your posts.
I'm getting a feeling of apprehension that something significant is likely to come along pretty soon.
The ISGF report looks very favourable towards a RF / or Hybrid RF solution- and so we hope that the Indian government and others listen to their advisors.
Do you have any views regarding likely revenue differences between two different contracts ......each with Cyan winning / installing a contract for say 500,000 smart meters - one is a pure RF solution solution where as the other is a hybrid solution? RF / Cellular.
And also would the fact that say RF was the back up communication and Cellular the prime communication in one of them, and visa versa in the second one - significantly effect the revenues that Cyan would receive on implementation and also after , once the maintenance contracts has began.
On the face of it i think revenues would be the same as the same amount of work, planning, coverage and installations would need to be made - even if RF was the back up and used less often.
Do you, or anyone have any views !
Cheers . GL Vas

Morning ALL,
If you look at each individual smart meter as a cash machine, generating a small cash revenue each month for 10 years, and with the likelihood, if all goes well , be renewed again for another 10 years. Suddenly, just one smart meter looks quite attractive as a long term revenue stream , with no further investment in hardware in future.
If you then add the possibility that the HES becomes unified / universal and can then support other services supporting that property, each new service paying an extra monthly charge, you can see how valuable each smart meter could become. Each one could over time double / triple plus its monthly revenue and at the same time save other service suppliers , say water the cost of installing yet another smart meter..
Obviously, this is all in the future but the company's competing TODAY,. need to win as many smart meters as possible to stand the best chance of realising these extra rewards in the future. They realise how valuable these meters could become, and if they are not won now, during the tendering , i imagine the only other way of getting their hands on another company's pipeline of smart meters contracts - would be to buy them, or the company.
I think at this stage of this new era of smart energy in India...its presently a "smart meter grab" for as many meters or solution providers contracts as possible.
On top of each new meter secured TODAY their is the real opportunity of a UHES taking on data / extra revenue from gas, water, sewage, EVs, and Renewables at some stage in the future. My guess EVs and renewables will be the second and third push, but within smart city's ( at least 500 so far), plans for smart water, gas , and sewage along with many others are already being tested.
That small box in each property could probably become the command centre for most utilities and services supporting the property in the future, and very valuable . GL Vas
Good Morning LT,
Thanks for your view which makes much more sense, i think.
India certainly need to ramp up their meter manufacturing production to meet the demand over the next few years - so this could continue for some time.
Also,
Excellent news about Tangedco......especially as they have smart meter tenders out, and their initial awards to their Amisps are expected sometime soon / anytime before New Year , possibly..
Thanks for posting.

Hi ALL,
What does this line actually mean...it's included in todays Cyanconnode report but is such a general statement, hard to know if its directed at CC specifically or the general smart meter manufacturing market in India.
"Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Providers (AMISP) are planning to source smart meters from a larger number of suppliers, requiring increased R&D investment from CyanConnode."
What does this actually mean, does it mean that AMISPS wish to distribute the manufacturing awards to more broader meter manufacturing base , or does it mean that the demand for the CC solution can't be met by the existing manufacturers that CC have on side .
I seem to remember it was eleven manufacturers with CC at last count, including Genus. Why do CC need more manufacturers......If its not actual demand for more CC meters then what is it?
I don't suppose it came as a shock to many here , in fact i must admit i am pleased to get this out the way, so we can move on to the what should be a very news rich period. The contracts that hopefully land in the near future should out way anything we have heard today...I notice CC are involved in around 150 million meter contracts at present. This sounds a lot for any company, let alone a small company like CC. Anyone have any idea how many smart meters that leaves still to come, as we know there has been some declared as far as L1 / AMISPs are concerned.
Some of the tenders for the 150 million meters that CC have stated today they are involved in have already been declared as far as the L1, Amisp or Principles are concerned , and we await the results for the sub contractors.
We know Genus and several other partners have done very well up until now, winning multiple awards - so the hope goes that the "importance" of being nominated as a preferred partner for various successful L1 company's recently is reflected in a good percentage of these L1 awards come to us.
