They suspect that a £100m investment at SC will facilitate the bringing out of £700m of ore.

This is not even the main focus for CUSN to begin with. That is United Downs. The order intrigues me. United Downs seems to provide the best opportunity for generating cash flow. Once established they probably can turn to SC later on.
With Government support this could fly. Next? Smelting and battery production ?

"Coventry airport could house a factory making batteries for electric vehicles as efforts to phase out the fossil fuel engine gather pace.

The site has been picked by the West Midlands Combined Authority as the preferred site for a "gigafactory" in the region.

Coventry City Council is now working with the airport’s owners to submit a planning application for the site to be used for battery manufacturing.

It it is hoped that having the planning application underway will make it more attractive to battery developers with whom authorities are in talks, and also speed up the process once a developer comes on board.

Large-scale battery manufacturing will be key to the health of the automotive sector given the ban on sales of new petrol and diesel cars that comes into force in 2030. ..........................."

ShearClass I will take another look. I got the impression that if things go well for CL, then CUSN can maintain its percentage holding by putting in more capital as and when CL requires it for expansion. Can't remember what it says about the pricing for that though.
My feeling is that CUSN has so much of the likely mining areas tied up, it will be THE Cornish Mining operation. This is occurring just as the UK Government wants to establish a complete national vertical chain from ore producers through to car manufacturers vie, ore processing, smelting, battery/cable etc production into cars. Given a key UK industry is at stake here (car manufacturing) employing ? 800,000 people, I do not think that HMG is going to let this slip. Having had the shining example of vaccine planning and success, I suspect they will want to do much the same for this value chain. All good news.

The market reaction to CUSN this morning has been very positive despite the brokers/bankers short term punters having a chance to take profits.

Just to make it clear to others, it is CUSN that has the 25% free carry on Cornish Lithium ltd.
The CUSN placing was oversubscribed despite the fund raise being increased from £5m to £8m and getting a further £0.2m from some HNW's. UD is the first prospect - a new lode found near the surface together with access facilitated by the Wheal Maid decline. But because the fund raise was so successful, they have money to investigate at Gwinear too.
Given what has happened to the tin price, I am wondering if the SC plans will be accelerated. If the price stays up or even rises further SC must come into play I would have thought. What are your thoughts?

In a drowsy moment early this morningwhilst listening to BBC radio 4, I thought I heard them say Oxford has appiled for a Govt grant to build a Giga battery factory. Anyone hear it all?

If that come off it will be great news for all those companies with an exposure to Lithium in the UK,

CUSN 's asset, South Crofty is rich in tin. It has not been part of CUSN s immediate plans, but look at the price of tin! I have a feeling SC soon will be. Analysts will be dusting off the PEA and re-doing their sums.

Jag are going all electric early. Demand for Electric raw materials in the UK will get another push. A large percentage of cars parts will have to be sourced in the UK to be able to export to the EU. So the pressure is on for car manufacturers to buy their key parts in the UK. So production of batteries and motors therefore copper, tin ( solder) and especially Lithium is desperately needed in the UK. Hope that helps.

The Solihull plant, which produces the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar and Jaguar F-Pace models, will become the centre for JLR's electric car production.

JLR will also work more closely with its parent, the Indian conglomerate Tata, drawing on its automotive and technology resources.

Collaborations with other car makers, such as an existing deal with BMW on engines and electric motors, will continue to help spread development costs.

The new focus will require concentration on new technology and potentially lower sales, but Mr Bolloré would not say whether it meant job losses. The company has shed thousands of staff in recent years.

Asked directly about further redundancies the car boss would only say the workforce faced “permanent adaption”, but referred to reskilling staff.

The Unite union “broadly welcomed” the strategy, calling it “good news” for the company’s 40,000 UK employees.

Jim Holder of Autocar said moving Jaguar upmarket to compete with the likes of Aston Martin and Bentley would be “incredibly difficult and hinge on its new cars being class-leading”.

He added: “If it can be puled off then the prospect of making higher margins on fewer sales should be enough to sustain a brand that in its current form is ailing to the point of struggling to justify its existence.”
