Evraz is not suspended due to financial difficulties....far far far from that.
Evraz is not suspended through LSE, it’s FCA that have made this decision
Evraz have had a suspension imposed as part of a very unusual investigative process. For example, sometimes in all walks of life a company may suspend someone because they have been “accused or charged” with something that’s bad for the company...they get suspended until further investigations have been implemented. Till such a time they’re not to work or be present etc etc until such a time that a decision can be made.... then either fired, charged, warned, demoted or simply the suspension is lifted, and back to as they were.

This is, yes, a much bigger and complex situation but the base premise of suspension isn’t far off the same as my example and Evraz.

A strategic move has been implemented.
Remember this is/was a top dog FTSE 100 company.... whether we like any 100’s boards at any time they’re not going to be tinpot delboy wannabe directors in place.

They would have taken this decision to show transparency, to show their seriousness in efforts, with regards to the sanctions and that Evraz should not be liable to them. To show willing in all they can do to get the company's suspension lifted as soon as reasonably possible.

And yes, I agree with a number already mentioned this..... once lifted, and back trading, despite ongoing war zone, this should fly..... by knowing the clarity of RA having no control, and a clean slate of board members who will all be ‘vetted’ re Russian/putin links etc etc.

I do also wonder if this now makes Evraz an attractive buyout/takeover option. Enormous real value against a currently pitiful sp value.

Likewise on investing .com

Putting that idea t9 the side it would help if you stopped taking “punts” and tried calculating risks. You literally sound as though you’re throwing a dart at a board blindfolded just because hysteria has the better of you. If anyone checks your history they’ll see what I mean.
Even if the divi was still in play it was highly unlikely the sp would have gone down to 60p let alone your other thoughts.
You’re ok at present IMO at 92 ish and even if only in for a shortish haul you should come out of this with something.
If the current dialogue of news is correct... there could be a resolve to this diabolical agenda putin (not even going to cap his p) has created. If this is so.... booooom

Probably a difficult play.... for many, it may have come across as a knife in the back.... initially. Until pragmatic and financial sense dawns upon.

Hence their reluctance but.... one would think and hope that the board has taken this last minute decision in the genuine interests of their shareholders.
This would therefore include numerous big players let alone their oli’s being affected. Could have been a far worse EoD sp but it wasn’t.
With fresh talks and suggestions of some resolve... this could catapult back to a much more reasonable price and many of us will be popping corks for holding strong.

My initial thoughts (in the minutes of realising) were oh crap, the so and so’s.... but, and a big but.....I kept wondering why we weren’t flying and poly were.... it was in the print all along and seems that the better informed of us get it..... poly stated they would keep the divi under review and they’ve had some fabulous recovery today.... we dillydallied all day.... I reckon many knew this may happen to us and will pocket in on those less informed and have or will bail....buy up and laugh..... there’s now no big potential drop and is a straight forward recovery.
Initially peeeved ( for a few minutes) almost bailed then quickly did the maths.... this may well go in our favour, weirdly in a black/white view but add the colour and I’m good I held.
Why do you think there wasn’t a massive bail out at the end. Just a retreat. Good opening for tomorrow if I’m seeing and sensing correctly. There may be an initial drop but recovery has the possibility of what poly has today.
Don’t forget..... a divi payout is a fixed sum. Sp goes up and down and at the price we are still at...and where it should return to far outweighs the value of divi.
At present, I see a one off divi non-payout followed by a very potential special divi given once recovery occurs and presented as a show of loyalty. (Something like that anyway)

Disagree on your fear mongering opinion on further divis and this silly 2 years pandora box rubbish.

Company, being Evraz.... strong as an ox financially, fundamentally and so on except of course for this massive (hopefully short lived) hurdle hence massive crash in sp. Assuming this will be short lived and things can get back to some form of normality, they’ll be right back on track and making stackloads of dosh. Divis will return on the turn of a penny.
This is your only caveat... the current war situation.
Which may, goodness hopes for all humanitarian purposes above anything else, is closer to getting some form of resolve as we converse.

This may actually play out ok.

Look at poly.... RNS today too this morning and in theirs they did mention that they’ll keep their divi under review and look at the sp fly today.
Perhaps, therefore, with the money still in the banks and no “drop” tomorrow this may well play out well.
If it’s 38p from a divi or 38p rise from no divi then to some degree it cancels out. This isn’t perfect maths I know but trying to put a view point out there easily.
The other aspect is that a divi payment has a fixed value whereas the sp can go up (or down), so this could end up having greater value in the end.

Posing quick calc thoughts.

Closing price as it stands is 92.54 unless that updates over next half hour so in fact....at present we’re probably higher now there’s no divi drop.

Of course, depends on what happens on opening.

Easy to get really peeeeeeee’d off by the last minute decision but we must make sure we all keep our pragmatic heads on. This could actually work well

My only concessional advice would be not to be too hasty in bailing out of frustration or panic and weigh up all options where possible.

No robin..... go read many postings over last few days..... again, for clarity.

If you’re going to play around with shares for real.... you need some base understandings behind you.

Highly volatile shares... big companies offering divis... rarely does the sp drop acccordingly. This would only happen by either zero trades made upon opening or by fluke that each trade pretty much cancels out the opposing...buy/sell..

So in principle yes but reality hardly ever that precise.

Likely yes...that sp will drop .... which is why many will have a set limit order to get in there upon open bell disregarding divis but looking to get straight in on lower sp.
very useful if the drop will break you even or negative in your normal ave price for given share.

Not only then, will you have earns some divis but you can also average down.
Alternatively as someone mentioned earlier... it sets you up nicely for the next divi (if all goes well.... next one for Evraz will be May time)

I reckon there’s been at least a dozen or so of us on here now that have given out divi advice / knowledge.... pls go read through.

I know what you’re implying, Hefon, regarding T2 clearance, but not really a catch. That’s ONLY if you wanted divi return and then want to bail straight away, and for those that want that path should have already been in. Good to clarify and explain though.
This share is still phenomenally low, cheap in value (without stating the obvious current situation) and Evraz has been paying out 4 divis a year. Next one potentially in May.
Quite often too, there’s an initial common drop in sp on divi day for the sp to often recover over the following few days. That’s again if one wants the divi return only

Used this site for a few years now. Very simple to use. You can now see, as of today, that poly was right up there alongside Evraz for percentage return on the divi.
The big difference at this moment though is our RNS said nothing about our divi...hence, we will very likely get it still.

But, with poly’s..... their RNS stated that their divi offering will continue to be under review. Not ex-divi till May either...long way off.

Let’s get this clear.....again......
Upon opening of ex-divi, if and only if, there were zero trades made then yes... the drop would appropriate the divi amount..... but that just won’t happen. This is not a small aim share that no one knows about.

So..... the likelihood of volatile opening is probably guaranteed, drop of some sort to start and then recovery. Once divi is dealt with and not part of this debate it will purely be on the rest. This will still be a stonking value (for the obvious temporary GeoP reasons) and there’s will be many out there I reckon that will want this boosted back up to make full benefits of the divi value. There will be many out there that’ll be gauging the sp at EOD to set a limit order for opening bell on x-divi day “To get in on the drop”......creating an opening where we don’t know what’s going on for a few minutes...such as this morning. Therefore it’s extremely unlikely the sp will drop by the divi amount.
