I may be out of touch with current legislation and normal broking practices, but short selling is very difficult inmv for the following reasons.
Most brokers will not sell stock unless you are already holding the equity. Most will not sell for above t3. The old days if you had a certificate then it was more possible as the share certificated needed to be de-materialised
My understanding in the past is automatic buying procedures would be instigated if stock as not available to settle the transaction.
Any broker carrying positions that do not settle on settlement day are required to put margin up at a huge cost nowadays which in turn would be passed onto the client.
So in summary unless a shorter has the original shares or is able to borrow the shares from a accredited stock lender then I cant see how this is beneficial in terms of omega. After all we are a aim stock.
