YTD they have bought back 1.8% of the shares and should be around 2.2% once Q3 BB are finished. I think they will go big in Q4 and buyback $2B, just under another 2%. A reduction of about 4% for the year.
This makes perfect sense if your look at their earnings potential in Q4.
Certainly what I think.
on a PE of 8, what is that ?
With between $6-$7b earnings.
Its starting to look like a blow-out Q4
Good hiring in the US airlines industry in September
lol yes $2b, lost my mojo for a minute.....
I think buybacks will go up to $2m in Nov and net debt will obviously drop.
Tinker,
they already tax both production and consumption. If they wanted revenue, they could just adjust one of those or make something disallowable for tax purposes.
I think though governments are sweating about energy prices, so they would be far to scared to do this.
And they have booked the first month of Q4 at really good prices. At some point this share needs to rise to a realistic price.
I don’t think this is likely under a Tory government. Additionally, they will want O&G companies to increase their capex.
I am in two minds about prices of oil and gas falling.
On the one side we have history which shows them as cyclical. On the other hand the US is neither the biggest consumer nor producer any more and therefore has less say in the process.
If gas or LNG are the indicators oil has a big rise ahead of it.
Also who would have thought we would be unable to buy petrol for two weeks and have energy companies going under.
"All four bp operated offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico have resumed operations and were back online producing as of September 12th, 2021."
Less then I thought, two were back online on the 7th.
I think is will be a little bit muted. They will obviously have a stunning "one million dollars" announcement!!!!!
But I think Al sorry Kerry, might mumble a little.
Well hopefully they have now locked in some nice incremental margin on gas for the month of October, meaning that Q4 is half in the Bank. It’s difficult to see how this doesn’t go up with (maybe) earnings as high as 90 cents for the full year.
EmeraldCarrots,
China is having rolling blackouts due to lack of energy at the moment. 2021 will be a record for coal usage. LNG is twice as expensive as oil.
4:20 if the 10 Year hits 1.75%
everything seems to be going right at the moment. How high is the question ?
Yes that about sums it up, also remember companies are substituting airfreight for shipping, so long distance haulage is taking over long distance business flights.
