The tests don’t need to be perfect. The current rolled out test for corona is 75% inaccurate on the negative but very high on the positive. They need to be repeated and improved. The lab test is a sure thing just awaiting approval, they are probably trying to work out how to make the POC as it’s a lot harder. This is hold or buy, it’s still all to come

I think Han**** said lab test completed and to be rolled out, scientist said small steps with POC test, still working on it which is exactly what we knew.

Next two days phe will confirm lab, Elisa test and this will be backed up with orders.

thats completely true. the elisa test has been developed through mologic and odx, will be available this week i think. they have also developed a poc which we havent heard too much about and we dont know who and how this will be made, hopefull that odx have some involvement. truth is for many reasons there all involved whether as uk plc to make money, or supply through charity to foreign nations at cost price

the latest update and next step is Elisa testing approved by PHE, scotland and wales. i dont see why if approved by labs that are approved themsleves why this wont get government sanctioning which can come at anytime.

theyll start the roll out of the lab tests out drive throughs, hospitals, doctors etc to be followed up by the poc as soon as ready. i think this will come either from the consortium or the moligic test

the interview on radio 4 is alot more logical and makes perfect sense of the reality of where they are. it sounds like they are working on the design freeze that connects in with the manufacturing methods and there is someway to go. an over 12 month process to be done in weeks or up to three months. the ceo certainly wasnt over shooting the concept and design, he was very pragmatic. the elisa test therefore will be essential as this comes far far far quicker than anything else on offer. therefore expect elisa this week, update on poc could be a couple of weeks at least.

the next rns will probably be public health england, scotland and wales approving the elisa test for use and distribution. ideally followed by an order confirmation from the uk government, starts with the 46k per day,

followed by update on poc, not sure where this will be, design freeze, public health england approval? not sure. this then leads to the orders by government and i believe on general sale.

just to add, teh virus wont just go away and it kills far more than just the flu through winter, it kills many people if they get it, it has to be managed far more than flu

public health england can come up with the announcement around elisa lab test anytime. they will also update anytime on the poc test as and when this is also submitted and then comes back to public knowledge. so i think next step is phe update on elisa, poc time frame not sure, maybe next week however design freeze soon. i think we talk as though these businesses are going from one step to another whereas its probably pretty fluid and all aspects are being reviewed and discussed all the time. simply put they want a test poc and lab asap.

the uk government will be even more broke if they dont get out of the lockdown, manage it even 50% better than they are now and have the data to reduce social distancing and have people at work.

whilst it might cost a few quid it ironically has a payback that money spent on all testing now is seen as far less than social distancing lockdowns

thats odd, the daily mail is no good the telegraph is ok and can be listened too? there are all as bad as each other, the update is through an rns as always and odx will do well to coodinate updates against everyone else involved who isnt on a plc, share index. once public health englanf approve mologic, elisa test they will want to annouce straight after the call they get so could be anytime. point of care is huge, they'll be offering both based on where the tests are going

That’s just not true, they can scale up to 46k a day which can be managed through many routes to person. Through drive throughs, hospitals, doctors, delivery to people. What’s good is the accuracy and from that point the delivery is improved. The POC is key, more to come on that. Last week they stated Elisa CE, phe ans Scotland validation by hopefully Wednesday and then an order to follow.

They were never going to rns on an article in a newspaper. They'll follow through on Elisa and when poc is available and ready announce. The big difference with poc test is they can sell also direct to consumers. They can't set up selling through amazon with full validation and sell direct which can then go where ever. Interesting week. Public health Engels do by Thursday latest plus order. Poc might even be next week.

Hence the need to have a controlled, managed exit that creates a new acceptable norm of deaths from different things. If we hadn’t done any social distancing we would currently be looking at 100k plus of people death and nhs crashed, it’s a managed pandemic which is very expensive in many ways. WHO will take approved tests from others so that they can then distribute. If the virus continues to kill it will all be amount managing the level at which it spreads and antibody tests until a confirmed, successful vaccine which in itself might not stop vulnerable and old passing away. This will take huge resource and overall demonstrate the need for more diagnostic testing globally for many things

There an assumption a vaccine will be created. There is an assumption bringing it back to flu it won’t then kill anyone ? This has the potential by the looks of things to kill many many people especially the older you are and more vulnerable, more so than flu especially if you don’t get hospital treatment. Worse case is a large second wave going into autumn and winter, mixed with flu and thousands globally can’t get hospital beds. We have years of understanding of flu, zero on this which isn’t great. We have lost thousands of people in the uk in six weeks doing full social distancing, more than annual flu which covers openly the full uk population. This is serious, the way the Chinese are treating this it obviously won’t just go away and in order to get immunity and herd we probably need over a million people to die very soon
