The announcement of the settlement of the legal dispute on 9th January has provided a degree of certainty for all investors. However, the share price was circa 27p at the end of that day and it actually dropped a bit over the following few days, so the Alliances could have bought significantly cheaper if they'd got a wiggle on... so not sure the settlement was a primary factor.
But who knows?

Whatever happens next, I think we have to thank Ashley for finally stirring the Alliances into action - they're certainly supporting the share price with their purchases now! If they'd dipped into their expansive pockets earlier, they'd have been able to buy all these shares a good deal cheaper.

It's a good phrase "the revolution is moving east to west, not west to east".

Indeed. The share price decline in the week leading up to today's TU is there for all to see. It's what suckered me in with a little top-up last week.
Funny, I was thinking over the weekend that it was a bit stupid and risky to add shares before a TU - not much more than a gamble really, so serves me right.
But I didn't expect a company like EKF to be so leaky!

Tbh, I'm struggling to get a handle on what it means for Totally going forward. Share price wise, the market seems to have delivered its verdict and its hurting!

Thanks Adam, I also thought it possible that Brough had simply had enough. If we accept that Brough is an astute investor and wouldn't sell out unduly cheaply (as he sees it), then your idea that he may have factored in a stalemate outcome rather than a rocketing share price due to a takeover scramble, comes into play.
Sorry to repeat myself, but Ashley doesn't like overpaying.

I was surprised that they felt the need for a detailed rebuttal of the Quintessential short report.
nonetheless, to me it seems like a strong counter to the allegations.

Why would they sell their stake in the low 30s, if they knew it would likely kick off a takeover battle, with a rising share price? Doesn't make much sense. I mean, Andy Brough of Schroders is quite matey with Ashley and was once quite bullish on BWNG. Why take the loss knowing the share would likely surge immediately after the sale?
Any ideas?
