What the last few months have shown is holidays and travel are NOT the 1st thing to go in a cost of living crisis - they are some of the last things people sacrifice.
Inflation, including food inflation, is set to fall quickly over the next 6-9 months. And it looks like the energy price cap won't be needed by the autumn, so fast have gas prices fallen.
What's more, employment is strong and many people (not all) have been getting decent wage increases. Even those on govt support have seen their benefits uprated by the RPI.
Yes the mortgage rate has risen, but not a problem for the many on fixed deals who won't need to refinance until 2024/2025.
Finally, it looks like the UK will avoid a recession (B of E uprated UK growth forecasts yesterday).
It ain't all doom & gloom!
