Question: retail investors set stops, but they presumably also set buy orders. When the share price falls I guess it triggers both types, so why do the stops always seem to win out?

Yup, a quick look at Purplebicks' Wiki entry (not updated for ages but what do you expect with PURP) shows that apart from Woodford, early backers included businessmen Paul Pindar (ex-boss of Capita plc, 95% share price loss to today) and Errol Damelin (founder of Wonga, remember them?, now gone bust).

So Woodford, Pindar and Damelin... not so much 'follow the money', more 'follow the losers'.

...who've pulled off a superb deal "in the best interests of the Company and the shareholders". Talk about pulling it out of the fire! Apparently we might get a residual 2p, while the share price sits on 0.66p. Let's pile in!

But there is one question that demolishes it all (and it's said with all due respect), so why is this a piddling little company of just £700m market cap that's got itself suspended at 100p, more than 75% below its IPO price of 410p which was just two years ago?

Be thankful we're not shareholders in Tower Resources plc (TRP) which is another AIM listed oil explorer, albeit tiny. Today they announced that they had conducted a placing (all done, no offer to retail shareholders) of shares at what I calculate is about a 60% discount to yesterday's price. Shares in TRP tanked 53% today.

Nothing like that here, far from it.

Yup. This is a good result.

Better funded via an 8% dilution placing at a next-to-no discount to the current share price.

No ones saying it's transformational, but we are a better prospect today than we were yesterday for sure.

Doesn't make for pleasant reading and it's fair to say they don't like the risk-reward here... but then HL tend to be on the ultra conservative side.

Oh well, it's gonna be quite a ride to come but then we knew that already!

Yup.

These are all stories in the future history of the sector, but if Shein go public in the USA as planned, they are going to come under the same sort of scrutiny that the likes of Boohoo has been subject to.

Also, knowing how clever they are with timing IPOs, an imminent listing probably means Shein is at or near the top of the cycle and the only way is down from there.
