The secret of investing in Aim shares is to try and find the bottom and do major top ups. My average after several top up years is 9p. What kept me investing was the underlying asset base and the fact that one day the investing world will realise that there is going to be a scramble for Lithium producer shares. Having said that, the irony is, that it is the Iron ore prospects that have lifted the SP. Onwards and upwards.
I too worked in the market. Blue button for Spencer Thornton and dealer for Longman Towsey. I did see some shorting but only in the 14 day accounting period where it was easy to sell stock without owning the shares. A working colleague shorted 100 Posidon Nickel at 135 pounds and bought them back before lunch at 100 pounds. Made a quick 3500 pounds. I thought it was brave but he said that having come up from 6d there was nowhere for them to go. Those were the days!
Decided to top up to bring my average down to a sensible level. Struggled to get the order done had to do it in three lots.
I note that at the time i was trying to buy there were several others doing the same. The buy/sell quote is so close I think they are struggling to differentiate.

"Dry oil flow rates during the initial 48-hour "clean-up" period to date are encouraging, with metered daily rates averaging 223 barrels of oil per day ("bopd"). However, as is to be expected in the early clean-up stage of such a horizontal wellbore, both oil and associated gas rates have been very variable. Half hourly rates have thus ranged from a high of 778 bopd to a low of around 10 bopd during intermittent short periods of "slugging" (i.e. the return of discrete pockets of gas and/or completion fluids).
