SP down 5% today, but more hurt to come. I agree with Bernithebiker. It will take a LONG time to recover - we are only now entering the surge in cases and Italy and Spain are failing to cope with huge numbers of health workers off sick. USA is a different story altogether as Trump seems to be only wanting to save his election chances and denies the virus is that bad and their whole system of state government and private healthcare is really unsuited to a national response to the crisis. The worst is yet to come from USA and this will bring all markets down. Trump is handling this so badly. The UK will be in the same boat (like Italy) but not so bad as USA but we must get the personal protection equipment to the people that need it much quicker. John's stats clearly show that RYA is overpriced. If I had shares I would sell now and wait for the inevitable 6€ price to get back in.
I won't be selling. They were £3+ through most of Jan/Feb and they will return there by next Jan/Feb. More likely £4. The High Street clothes retailers will be a different story - many will not recover. Just Keep Calm and Hold On.
RE: Ryanair cancel all flights april/may25 Mar 2020 21:06
DT - irrelevant tosh yet again ... yes my wife booked a flight with RYA for 4th April coming back 11th. Nothing hypocritical - the airports she needed and the timings were only served by Ryanair. Would normally go Easyjet and happy to pay more for the better service but it got cancelled and the refund is going through . Had to go through a crap website and many hoops to get the refund submitted but that's par for the course with RYA. No money for O'Dreary - happy about that. The email says "Refunds will be processed within 20 working days" which is yet another example of RYA's poor customer service.
RE: Ryanair cancel all flights april/may25 Mar 2020 16:01
Be careful Berni - this is a rampers' echo chamber - Mikey's fanboys and all their irrelevant tosh. People have lost a lot of money on RYA and your negative comments about RYA will not be welcomed here.
John Hulme - You can quote O'Dreary's words - he is just (very carefully) covering himself to avoid paying out the refunds early. He is hoping people cancel flights (or re-book) thus losing their rights to a refund. It's all a bit sneaky. Anyway, whatever words you want to use, the flights are DEFINITELY CANCELLED and probably June and July too. This virus will be around for a long time yet and RYA will be haemorrhaging serious money while other companies will be making some revenue. Many businesses will realise there was no actually need for meetings and trips abroad when so much can be done via video conferencing and remote training. Even when the virus is under control, I can't see there being a mad rush to buy flights and go abroad - it will take a couple of years or more for the airline industry to pick up again.
RE: yeh ,two Irish Vultures looking to pick25 Mar 2020 11:07
Nah. Ryanair hedged 2020 and 2021 fuel at 60$ when current price is 27$. Ooops. They also have a load of redundant dodgy Max 8s on order which are gathering rust at Boeing's car park. Ooops. I'm afraid Mr O'Dreary will be counting his massive losses not buying up Norwegian Air.
Ryanair cancel all flights for April and May25 Mar 2020 10:49
That's the busy Easter Hols and Bank Holiday season with zero income. However, police forces have been told to prepare for a lockdown of six months. RYA stupidly hedged their fuel at 60$ which will hurt them big as the planes are not flying and the crude price today is 27$. Every day I look at FlightRadar and each day there are fewer planes than the day before, those still flying are mainly in USA, China and Japan. COVID-19 is set to surge in the UK now for the next 3 weeks. Sell RYA and buy something that can make money. My prediction remains at 6€.
Are you still having trouble from Ryanair getting your refund? I wouldn't be surprised as there are no end of complaints about Ryanair just google and you'll find them. I suggest you escalate it to the CAA. There is an online form. Problem is the CAA get inundated with complaints about Ryanair all through the year so it may take a while to get it resolved. The worst problem is the £115 they charge for a name change on a booking - this could be on a flight that cost £39. Saw on the BBC news yesterday they tried to charge some pour soul just under £1000 trying to get a rescue flight from Malaga to UK, plus another £40 for having a cabin bag.
£4 for EZJ and 8€ for RYA is what I said. I know you've lost a lot of money sage, but you really should stop drinking in the afternoon. Carnival had a dead cat bounce like this - look where they are now.
RE: Do not hold these over the weekend20 Mar 2020 10:12
I find it terrible how they're treating pilots and cabin crew - many of whom have been working hard for years. I'm referring to them offering them unpaid leave for 3 months and worse conditions for 20 months. Don't these companies ever save any money for a rainy day? No, they start kicking or sacking the lowest paid workers immediately. Yet the management take a 3 months 20% pay cut. Incredible.
RE: EZJ not feeding staff now says BBC20 Mar 2020 09:56
Really sorry to hear your problems with 10 attempts to get refund. I'm not surprised though - RYA have come bottom in WhicH? Travel magazine's survey 6 years in a row for customer service. Google it. Budget airline does not need to mean budget service, but in Ryanair's case ... they really seem to pride themselves on a budget service. For years WhicH? have reported customers “fed up” with flight cancellations and the flouting of compensation rules by RYA.
They don't treat their staff any better: "The relationship between Ryanair and its pilots in the UK and elsewhere remains acrimonious."
They are allowed water though. That's nice of them. They are trying to get the employees to take 3 months unpaid leave and sign up to changes in work conditions for the next 20 months. Meanwhile the board execs have agreed to a 20% cut in their pay for 3 months. Disgusting. SELL SELL SELL.
