Well done DiviLike, that was a shed load of money you shrewdly invested. I we think we can all remember the halcyon days when this share was only available for £35...! Not that long ago either. Day traders love this share because the spread is so narrow and the volumes are so high. Worry not, hang in there, ignore the wild fluctuations and turn off your monitor and like you said... return in 2 years.

Good grief, a buy to the value of £23 Million went through at around 2.55...

The Footsie rose by 0.56% and Anglo American rose by 0.56%...is AAL the new bellweather for the wider market now...

Metal prices fall... causing today's strong pullback in AAL share price.

The share price held up well. This stock has upward momentum, it wants to go higher - without stating the obvious. Any news to the positive will see it climb back to 800p as soothesayer Andronicus points out. Day trade at your risk...Notwithstanding China and any further downturn news, this is the main challenge we are at the mercy of. Good fortune 888

Calm down boys...for the record, the UK will not be voting to leave the EU so you can factor that into your share buying decisions. The powerful remain group are using the economy route to unsettle people, falling house prices etc. It works every time...what was it Bill Clinton used to say? 'It's the economy, stupid'...

I'm in for more at £5.55 IMHO these prices will gyrate wildly over the summer recess but I will hopefully avoid my wife's designs on a new kitchen and hang onto these beauties until Christmas. Good fortune everyone and thanks for your observations on this incredible story so far.

Thanks Andronicus on behalf of myself and everyone else, you're the only contributor who keeps their cool and continues to post when this share is heading south! Very astute to keep 5o% of your powder dry until after the BREXIT result. AAL is a fascinating story of how the mighty can fall and then have a long hard look at themselves and begin again, a fantastic portfolio pedigree which still includes De Beers, I wish everyone well and I agree with your comments on the narrow choice of companies that are out there - in terms of a recovery story.

I came out of ARM (yawn) and invested (big time) in Anglo American just over four weeks ago, never a dull moment with this share, nerves of steel and brown underpants required, however I am in for the long term. It will be an interesting summer. IMHO I don't think the BREXIT campaign will succeed and how the market reacts to that reality remains to be seen, positively, you would expect...The more earth shattering result later this year is whether or not Donald Trump actually succeeds in his bid to become President of the number one economy/democracy in the free world. Could somebody please tell me what the SM abbreviation stands for in relation to the Japanese index, do you mean Stock Market? Also, why this should affect the wider markets please, most especially AAL? Thank you to andronicus for such open and honest posts, thus far.
