The Presidential elections were held on Wednesday this week, but there is no clear winner as yet with the incumbent complaining of irregularities and fraud.
I've posted this because I realised that, in my excitement over BMN and BE, I had forgotten all about this election, but I think it's important to understand that there is a political risk here. It is possible that, depending on who finally wins the race, there may be an effect on Lemurs' hard-won agreements and permits with the Madagascar government for its planned coal mine and power station in Imaloto, altho obviously I hope not.
I guess we'll find out in due course but, in the meantime, this article explains what is happening and also the somewhat 'interesting' history of recent island politics:
