...and of course, given that tweet by Lord Bethall was back in mid- March, it's fair to say he'd have expected that a decision on which test/s to select would have long happened by now and ODX would either be knocking out stock, or busy TTing. ODX has very recently told us they have no idea which test the gov will select, and we know that as of end of April, the Mologic test had not made the validation list for PHE. So what chance now end of May (i.e. 3 weeks from today) for the gov 1M a week, never mind ODX getting orders for the other 1M a week capacity.

So old news then, but it is useful to look over old tweets to see who was talking doo-doo.
Lord bethell tweeted 2M by end of May on the 15th of March. Now we know that odx has idle gov only capacity of 1M per week, so that 2M is a total for both companies.

Worth remembering that a month before Lord Bethall's tweet, ODX had categorically stated they'd deliver 2M per week in April.

Which was a follow-up to his tweet some days earlier "SP £2.50 March/April", which came with a lovely picture of the ODX sign holding him up.

So why was someone with a direct line to the CEO pumping March and April as transitional months and stating SP @£.250 for those months, and indeed the company itself tweeting 2M per week in April, when the minister for health was saying end of May for the Gov 1M ?

A cassette makes a tiny amount of profit compared to a test, its a couple of pieces of plastic, I assume they are making them for surescreen, as Innova has historical been able to furnish endless supplies of tests. But if it pays the staff wages, it's worth doing at this stage.

He said they would expand capacity to 2M a week, and had the money to do so. Now we find that 1M a week capacity is exclusive for gov. That's cut the "we can make whatever test" flexibility by 50%. If by some miracle Abdx gets a massive order for antibody tests, ODX is stuck with 50% capacity lying idle if there is no gov antigen test. Its clear to me that they sacrificed manufacturing capability as the expected revenue income from RTC antibody did not materialise and therefore could not fund the last 1M capacity plus the ramp up of staff, plus self-funding RTC antibody stockpile, without resorting to additional capacity raise.

Meanwhile we STILL wait for any orders to be announced.

I read the RNS.

With the TT process taking on something of an elephant gestation period, they'd have been broadcasting pre-orders loud and clear in that RNS.

Its also clear from the RNS that the gov loan equipment came with a exclusivity clause that means it must only be used for a gov test. So we now know that ODX can not possibly under any circumstances be producing 2M a week of anything, and will definitely not do so until or if the gov pick a test.

That tweet back in Feb hangs around them like an millstone tied to an albatross.

Unfortunately, as it appears increasingly likely that the Mologic test is not going to be selected by uk gov, given it has been unable to make the PHE validated list even though its been around since before Xmas, ODX will still be in the process of TT some new gov test, when the surge is over.

That £50M-£374M, is looking a lot more like £50M.

ODX knew the exact spec for the visitect antigen test 4 months ago, they couldn't get anyone to sign up to pre-order it.

why is everyone so surprised when they get an LFt and its from china ? Innova has shipped £billions worth of tests. Surescreen has a much tinnier order, but we dont know how many they've shipped. there is no other options.

So Elisa test, no one wanted it, odx converted it to a diagnostic service, and signed a zero volume contract

RTC antibody, making it with their own money, storing in warehouses, no one currently wants it

Visitect antigen, been TTing for months, all specs known, sales team couldn’t get a contract signed in all that time, likely due to having failed PHE validation.

You’ve got to admit, odx consistency is remarkable.

I called it several months ago that this was a dead duck, complete radio silence since the day they TT-ed it.

And now they've just confirmed it. Who the hell wanted a lateral flow test with 4 different lines telling you different things, answer - nobody.

A lot has changed since Mologic originally agreed to let ODX TT the test, and it seems a lifetime ago. At that time, ODX was potentially 1 of only 3-4 possible sources of a 'gold standard' test. Since then, its taken them an absolute age to work out how to completely TT it, and in the six months that the mologic test has been on trial, it hasn't managed to get onto the PHE validated list, meanwhile 19 others have. So much for gold standard. And in the mean time, the country has went from no vaccines and >1500 a day dying and total zero movement lockdown, to virtually free movement, all the most likely affected vaccinated and 22 deaths a day (still too many).
