I think that article is what is known as "click bait" The 1967 dump would be the one that caused the 1970 disaster. It was not in use in 1979 when I started work there and a third dump was in use when I left in 1995. It's beyond belief that they would go back to using it in 2020 when it has to be continually dewatered to prevent another inrush.

Mufulira has 3 tailings dumps all clearly visible on google maps but I have no idea of size in terms of tonnage. They were seen as a potential source of Cobalt but I was there 25 years ago and I guess technology has greatly changed since then.

This looks like an interesting place to invest. Maybe I could use it as an offset to my investment in Thungela. The only thing that scares me a little is the mention of investing in unlisted companies, we all know what happened to Neil Woodford when he tried that.
