Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
At the time the Selby Mines closed, Drax was still burning circa 10 million tons of coal a year. Selby coalfield was deemed economically non-viable due mainly to geological issues. No matter how you pitch the arguments about how green or otherwise burning biomass is, you cannot sensibly argue that it is no greener than burning coal.
Another £4.45 and I'll be at break-even
Some seriously silly money being made in balancing mechanism this week. Both Coal units had 6 hr runs for evening peak yesterday Dx5 grossed £5.69M Dx6 £4.44M. Previous day Dx 5 only did £4.3M. With a forecast plant margin of minus 800MW this evening, it's hard to see them not run again today. The coal units we are likely to rely on this winter are these 2 at Drax and 4 x 500MW units at Ratcliffe. 2 units currently available at West Burton close at end of this month.
Hi, I have very little understanding of these declarations. Is this latest one a sign of Lone Star backing out?
Can't get a quote to buy £1000 worth. Offered 1.447 to sell same - as if I'd want to!
Drax have done rather well in the balancing mechanism so far this week. Their Rye House CCGT has grossed £2M; £1.25M and £1.5M in the last 3 days. Not to be sniffed at.
BBulsh - I am an example of a long term investor here. My ISA currently shows VAL as 93.45% down. Long way to go.
It's not even a definite adverse reaction. Apparently quite common standard practise in such trial. One participant has presented with unknown symptoms which may or may not be associated with the vaccine. Put on hold until a thorough independent review of patient is carried out. Should only be a few days at most.
Wow! only 95% down now Way to go ---- that is--- still a long way to go.
Only 98% down - joyous LTH
Thanks for that. Sounds right, I did hold Wildhorse.
Hello long term holders. I have a small investment here that I have had for a long time (7 or 8 years). My memory is not good and my filing system is worse. I am pretty sure that I bought into a completely different company which morphed into SO4. Am I correct? What was that company please?
My Saga share account is showing the new price but the old number of shares - Only 61 quid down ha ha.
Made a lucky little top-up @0.9875 just before the RNS. Hopefully we won't see 1p ever again. Onwards and Upwards.
Blue finish I think. I bought @ 1.039 - showed as sell on here with plenty more "sells" at same price. 1.05 "Unknowns" have surely got to be buys.
I got into this, must have been near top of the market back in the Irish Sea days. Currently showing nearly 2% up. Not selling now LOL.
Eadwig - I am prepared to stand corrected on that. I have looked at NG website and can find no mention of Battery storage ownership. Do you have any details please? It is a good few years since I retired from the power industry, so have lost touch. When the industry was broken up, NG originally owned the two Welsh Pump Storage stations: Dinorwig and Ffestiniog. They were made to sell them and it was made a license condition that the System Operator could not own generation assets that could compete with the Generating companies. Since there are an increasing number of Generators installing battery storage units and competing for response contracts with the system operator, I would be very surprised that the SO would be allowed to own such competing equipment. As I say though, I am prepared to be proved wrong.
By "EV" situated near the grid, I assume you mean "EV Charger". There should be no "excess" as it is a rapid response device. The excess power from Solar PV has an operating cost of zero. The presentation quotes a rapid charge operating cost of 30p/kWhr, more than twice the cost of power metered into your home. The anti-nuclear lobby were up in arms when the govt agreed that EdF should be paid 9.25p/kWhr to get the go-ahead on building Hinkley Point C and that has to pay for the financing of a massive capital programme.
National Grid are the system operator. They are not allowed to own generation assets of any kind. Standby / Reserve / Fast response and many other ancillary services are bought by NG under term contracts.
I am confused by this also. Happened before with this company. Is it that there are tighter rules on ASX than AIM?
