It could be but put that theory up against an over supplied market in 2020 by 85,000 tonnes, an expected over supply of 20,000 tonnes this year and LME inventories on the up (have you seen yesterday's jump up in stock?) and it seems to me the froth is coming off the price.

The medium to long term price is what matters and predictions on that front are still positive (if you can believe analyst's predictions).

The fundamentals don’t support the recent rise. The current correction is long over due and the price is likely to go a good bit lower. Sentiment will take the price up but it’s not particularly good at keeping it up (no smutty innuendoes please).

I hear what you say about silver and gold but I'm not so sure its the same with nickel. Fundamentals don't support the recent price rise the market being over supplied. The nickel price rise this last 12 months or so has been diriven, IMO, by sentiment and not supply/demand. A fundamentals driven rise is solid a sentiment driven rise an awful lot more fickle. This correction was long overdue and I wouldn't be surprised to see it go a good bit lower.

not much has changed apart from Interactive Nominees up by just over 12.5m, most shares coming from the Remaining shareholders account.

Interestingly the outstanding warrants total has fallen by 11,065,872 with the "Fully Diluted Shares Outstanding" total dropping by a similar amount. Seems like there's one positive to the share price being in the toilet.

That Talon web site page you posted makes the relative laterite/sulphide processing routes really clear. Thanks for posting.

The briquettes/powders referred to at the base of the page is what Tesla hopes to us in a dry process to produce cathodes which will mean missing out making nickel sulphate.

Your figure for the amount of nickel in out concentrate, from memory. Is correct. That would need to be refined to produce 99.8% pure nickel to qualify as class 1. The class 1 is then dissolved in sulphuric acid to produce nickel sulphide. The 22% figure you quote is the percentage nickel in the nickel sulphide solution.

There is no easy way to go from our concentrate to nickel sulphide although Tesla is currently looking to do away with a wet nickel sulphide process in their cathode manufacture.

Sulfide cupboard is bare

Where will mining companies look for new nickel sulfide deposits, from which the extraction of high-grade nickel needed for battery chemistries is economically and technically feasible? The pickings are slim.

Decades of under-investment equals few new large-scale greenfield nickel sulfide discoveries. Since 1990, the only large discoveries that have occurred, happened when exploration was going on for other metals.

Only one nickel sulfide deposit has been discovered in the past decade and a half, Nova-Bollinger in Western Australia. Capital expenditures on nickel projects plummeted from $7 billion in 2012 to $2 billion in 2017.

The result of such limited nickel exploration is a very limited pipeline of new projects, especially lower-cost sulfides in geopolitically safe mining jurisdictions. Any junior resource company with a sulfide nickel project will be extremely attractive to potential acquirers.
