Yes, a steady little rise in sp over the past few days, which is good to see. I'm in here with a 20k holding, and am happy to leave this in my sock drawer for now.

Stupmy. Generally speaking, I pretty much use TUI all the time for my holidays, and always found them to be ok. We normally go to the same place every year, so we know what the average price is for it. Usually it's between £3400 & £3900 for it. But I really can't see where they've got the £5200 they asked for this year from. A couple of hundred quid on top and I'd have probably bit the bullet & took it, but no way in Hell was I putting an extra £1k+ down for the same thing.

@ Stupmy. Thanks for the tip mate. It sticks out like a sore thumb when someone explains it like that. I must confess that I had overlooked that , but then, I guess that most do to be fair.

@ Masaimara. Yes you're right. I did book our holiday this year with First Choice. It's the first time I've used them to be fair.

With it being the same plane & time that we would have used had we gone to our usual hotel with TUI, (The Roseland in Kalamaki), I did wonder if that was the case. Still, as I say, I got a hotel just around the corner from our usual place £1600 cheaper, so I'm happy enough with that.

Tell me about it. I usually look to book our holidays to Zante at the beginning to mid January. There are two hotels that I look at one is a TUI one, the other a Jet2 offering. Tui's was just over £5200 for the 4 of us for the 2 weeks, for an AI, £1.5k more than last year at the same time, & J2 wanted £6k for a B&B. I don't mind a couple of hundred quid on top, but these seemed quite steep. We ended up with a different hotel in the same area for just over £3700 with First choice, TUI plane too. Very odd

Hi fellas. Yes, all is well. Sorry to hear I have been missed, but although I'm not invested here, I'll pop in from time to time to share my ditties & humour.

I've always liked this company, I still do to be fair, that's why I've not been bad mouthing it. I invested, it didn't work out the way I wanted it to, but $hit happens, and you have to take it on the chin don't you? Stocks & shares are not piggy banks/ savings accounts and that's that.

I've only got 3 going at the moment, SAV as a long term play, PFD as a safe bet & FUL. Apparently though FUL is subject to a takeover bid atm for pretty much what my buy in was, so I'm scratching my head wondering what to do with that one, but other than that all is good.

I'm a bit disappointed in this develop myself to be fair. I'd have hoped for roughly 15-17p a pop as a minimum myself as fair value. I do like this company, and saw some good potential in it growth wise over the years. That was why I plonked my wedge down. Still. Not to worry. These things happen. Shame really, but still.

It does seem a little odd, but there must have been a reason for it. There's usually a cost involved in putting an RNS out there so I'm told, so would they have spent that money if they didn't have to?

Having said that, I did do a cheeky little swing trade on the back of it and scored for an extra 32 free shares out of it, so I'm not complaining.

Given yesterday's tragic news of the passing of HMTQ. A sad day for all of us. I hope we are all muddling through as best we can.

I genuinely hope that Marston's fortunes can be improved, &should that happen, I will divert some of the money I have in PFD back in here. But while they are in their current freefall,I think it sensible to come out for a while until the level is found before reassessing going back in.

That said, I do have a small stake in SAV. (A Lithium miner).Just A couple of hundred quid, so not too much but can see some decent upside if all goes well. High risk certainly. Not expecting much short term there but it'll be interesting to see where I am in 5 years or so with it.

Yes, you are correct mate. I always like to reinvest any dividends I get back into the company.

I moved the funds into my PFD, as I see them as a safer option for now. (This is another company I like). I did buy a few in there when I had my good fortune with SGC so there's that.

Should things improve for Marstons, or the risk/reward ratio becomes favorable, I will be more than happy to come back in.

So I'll be quietly observing from the sidelines for now.

Regrettably though, I have sold my last few of my holding here. It's a sad day as I am fond of this Co.

That said, I sincerely hope that things improve for those who are still holding, and I've got no intention of running Mars down.

I've quietly sat back and took hit after hit with this one, and been perhaps a lot more patient than is probably good for me. But there comes a point where enough is enough.

At all? A very small dividend announcement would be encouraging.

@ Fairdealer. Yes, you're right. RF has a lot to answer for. No question about that.

That said, I have offloaded a fair bit of my Marston's holding at a small loss & topped up on a couple of others that I hold that I see better growth potential in. I do still have a small holding in here of 500 shares though.

Maybe they should have looked harder at whether the Brains deal was worth the bother to be fair.

That said, Marstons are my smallest holding now to be fair, so I'm not really too worried.

Said Javid & Rishi Sinak have just thrown their tickets in. The Markets are going into serious meltdown tomorrow, isn't it.
