Personally, I see the lows of approximately 60-65p myself, but I have been proved wrong before.

This is often a good strategy. sell some when you're up on news like this, if as has happened this time, you can rebuy back in on the dips when it falls through scoring some additional shares at no additional cost to yourself.

As most on here know, I am rather fond of this company, however I'm not afraid to admit to swing trading it a couple of times in the past and scoring some extra shares along the way.

Still no update on proceedings with the Platinum proposition yet I see. Is that a good or a bad thing?

Yes, I've bought 10,000 shares first thing too.

I think it depends on what happens next. 2 obvious scenarios spring to mind.

1. Platinum (if still interested) will have put in a fresh revised offer in over the weekend. Or will do at some point in the foreseeable.

2. They'll have decided not to proceed, & walk away.

Hard to know which way they'll jump until we see what we see. Either way, we all know the outcome of the sp either way. Too close to call at the moment.

I've got a couple of working theories going on at the moment. They are only theories of course.

Had the Brain's announcement not come through today (close to or after hours) I'd have said that it would have been possible that Platinum could well have put a firm o r improved offer in, and an announcement made to the markets made on Monday.

If Fairdealer is correct, RF could have put this announcement in to deter them from progressing with any offer. This would then cause a retrace in the sp.

We'll see what happens.

@Fairdealer, yes, you have some good points. It's hard to try and guess how this will play out isn't it.

Yes the Brains deal did raise a few questions in my mind at that time too. So much so that I posted my observations on here at that time.

I'm still not 100% convinced though as to how the Brain's outlets are linked to any possible offer for Marstons by this approach, as we do not own those pubs. We are paying a fee to manage them as I understand it. I get that there will be a revenue stream coming in from it when some level of normality resumes, which could add some level of value to any bids that come in, but as those revenue streams are yet untested to me, I'd say that a monetory value to this part would be difficult to put a value on. Unless I am missing something.

Carlsberg may well be aware of proceedings here. To me, I'd say that it all depends on what they want to do with this information. So they possibly want to consider putting a bid in for the pubs themselves to diversify from just being a brewer, to having the facility to sell their products in their own pubs, as well as selling to competitors? that would be a win-win for them if of course they would be permitted to do so. I'd imagine that such a proposal would have to go through a monopolies inquiry first to look into competition rules of course.

It's all speculation of course. time will tell and all that.
