Proposed Directors of Tirupati Graphite explain why they have requisitioned an GM. Watch the video here.
Good morning all - bit of a dark, dull day here - forecast isn't that good either.
N - it's just sad that the law doesn't count for anything if that is the case - perhaps they should have got jurors from outside the area so that there was no bias - let's see if there's any more statues from the past dragged down across the country going forward.
Bit of a tin hat day for the markets/ASC - I think whilst Next figures and forecasts are good, there was some comment about supply chain issues - not sure if there will be some clarity during the investors conference call as I haven't looked at what time that is, but I wouldn't be surprised if ASC ended up positive at the end of the day and this mornings fall was just shorts making hay - fingers crossed that that is the case.
V - did you buy back into CINE at 36p this morning?
Well a few things happening in the news today - one that got my blood boiling - how on earth have those people in Bristol been found not guilty of criminal damage - sets a bit of a bad precedence in my view, and the other has made me laugh - Djokovic thinking that he's above rules/regulations because of who he is has now been refused entry to Australia - result I would say.
V - Happy New Year to you too - well done on your CINE trade - it's started to pull back a bit so it may drop below your sell price in the morning so you could end up buying more - I think it could be a bit of shorts closing and the fact that there's no more restrictions and the fact that there's quite a few blockbuster films coming out - and of course the view that covid may be ending soon.
TD - yes ASC is a good trading share normally (with the exception of about 2 years out of the last 6 or 7) when the volume is there you can earn about £1 on a trade so it can be a reliable/predictable source of income. Haven't had a chance to look at the position with SEE yet but I do remember maybe about 5 years ago they were supposed to have some contracts for something or other - can't quite remember the detail so will need to look into it.
Hope everyone's had a good day.
M - Happy New Year to you too - hope you had a good festive period and anyone affected by the virus is now recovered.
I'm just watching Bloomberg - one of their regular contributors is just discussing supply chains - he feels that there's signs that the supply chain issues have peaked and are starting to improve - also sees the European and UK markets outperform the US markets this year - hope he's right!
TD - bet you're pleased to see CINE gain so much today - probably quite a few shorts closing - after I sold my EZJ yesterday I was toying between ASC and CINE but chose ASC - regret that now! Hopefully by the end of the month a lot of the share prices will be back to where they were pre Omicron - fingers crossed anyway.
N - thanks for that - I just had a quick look and it seems that things are going in the right direction. I also looked at the World Container Index but that hasn't updated since 23/12 but that also shows there seems to be a downtrend happening in costs so fingers crossed that it continues.
Good morning all - its a lovely bright sunny day here - looks a bit cold out though.
I'm finding it hard to get up at my usual 7.00 am at the minute - must be the dark mornings - but I do miss the hour or so coverage on Bloomberg before the market opens as I find that really useful to try and gauge what's happening in the markets - a lot of good that did me last year though because I can't remember them covering the increase in shipping costs which has had a driving force (as well as the Delta variant obviously) in the continued downtrend on the markets here, but in fairness, I found it a good guide when covid first came out and was surprised at the slow reaction of the market at that time.
TD - Thanks for your tip on SEE - I shall have a look at that.
DJ - Sorry to hear that you're so far down on Avon - in respect of taking losses everyone has their own way of doing things and for me I have no hesitation in dumping something if its not working for me. I follow a few people on twitter - Mark Minniverni is one who has published books on trading strategies but he does come out with snippets now and again that are quite helpful in fine tuning trading - one tweet recently was about taking losses and about using stops on trades. Just as an idea for you, in respect of monetary terms, if you were to cash in your Avon holding and invest that capital somewhere else (maybe one of the sectors that has been beaten down because of covid) how long would it take you to recoup your losses and do you think there are opportunities in the beaten up sectors that would recoup your losses quicker than if you just sat and waited for Avon to recover?
I've been reading various things about Omicron being the variant that finishes covid off for good, and there's quite a few comments that there may be light at the end of the tunnel come the end of January - I've been trying to look at shipping costs to see if they're starting to come down as that really may be the catalyst for sentiment to change.
Markets seem a lot more subdued again today - maybe waiting for House of Commons statements on Omicron - hope everyone is having a good day - good luck all.
Ooops - sold my EZJ a bit too soon but bought ASC now - NXT figures are out on Thursday and they reckon the figures are going to be good.
N - I think the market - especially in respect of travel has got over excited today - maybe a few shorts closing - let's hope the rest of the year is like today given the year that was last.
Good morning all - well I'm too used to all these bank holidays - only just about got up in time for the market open and it was a profitable one to start the year off with - sold EZJ - not sure if its too soon to get back into travel/leisure but my plan for the early part of the year is to try and accumulate EZJ until more clarity around the supply chain issues/ASC is evident or volume comes back there.
O - well done on where you ended up in the league - not a bad achievement at all. In respect of places to get information from - apart from the press I watch Bloomberg quite a bit as well and they sometimes give good indicators on things.
Hope everyone has a good start to the year - good luck all.
Good afternoon all - just been for a walk with the ewok and relieved to say it was dry - well not raining but the ewok still got rotten so needs a bath!
I hope everyone has been enjoying the festive season, and whatever plans you have this evening I hope it all goes well and that everyone has a healthy and prosperous 2022 - Happy New Year to all.
Good morning all - hope some of you are getting better weather than me - it seems like it hasn't stopped raining over the Xmas break.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Xmas and have exciting plans for the New Year - I'm not going anywhere tomorrow evening as all the discos are closed here :-(
Figures for Omicron not looking good, but fingers crossed that we will be through the worst in a few weeks and it does indeed turn out not to be such a deadly variant - at least the fear factor about it has been dialled down a bit and that guy I have been following on Twitter still maintains that this is what will see the end of the pandemic and that once the variant dies down vaccines will no longer be needed - we can but hope.
I've been sad and plotting my investment/trading strategy/targets for the year ahead - be interesting to see how it all pans out as the year evolves - last year was awful but maybe with covid out of the way we can look forward to having some near normal markets - whatever they may be - certainly not worth trying to trade with the low volumes this week.
M - I hope you/your family have been OK over the Xmas period and that covid didn't impact your celebrations too much.
Evening all.
Hope everyone's had a good day - nice to see the markets a bit more positive and really good news about the Omicron variant - nothing that the South Africans weren't telling us weeks ago though - don't know what its like for anyone else, but everything is being closed here in Wales - pantomimes, theatres, winter wonderland, discos - I suppose in some respects things could be worse and it could have been as bad as last year.
I'm off now for Xmas - going to pick up my turkey crown first thing tomorrow and then doing my last bits and pieces before Santa comes to visit. I hope everyone has an amazing Xmas and that you all get to enjoy the big day with your nearest and dearest.
Good afternoon all - been doing Xmas stuff again this morning so only just sat down - sold my EZJ so I want them to go down now so I can buy a few more later.
S - wow, can't believe that you've been off wine for that long.
V - safe trip picking your Son up.
What do people think of the market for the next couple of days - selling/taking profit tomorrow and Xmas Eve or a Santa Rally because of FOMO?
DJ - you could always start trying the wine out now and if it turns out to be a good one replace it before the big day :-)
I also agree with you about the unnecessary panic the media has caused - its not just the media though as they've just followed the Governments lead - and I remembered the other word that South Africa used to describe our reaction to Omicron - "hysteria" which is now rubbing off around the globe - madness!
O - I have to be the optimist - I'm accumulating EZJ at the minute :-)
M - Tough love never hurt anyone - just a shame it doesn't seem to be the way these days. There's a lot of comment about HL this morning - hope you've managed to log in now.
Good morning all - shortest day of the year today so soon be Spring :-)
O - I agree about yesterdays numbers in respect of covid being questionable, but on a positive, that guy in South Africa that I've been mentioning on here is quoted in the Mail online this morning - it took 20 days from the start of cases for what appears to be the peak of the Omicron variant - if we mirror South Africa (with our first cases being identified around 1/12), then hopefully we are through the worst, and if as some scientists are saying that if Omicron becomes the dominant variant then we really can start to look forward and on that basis I very much agree with the Stockopedia guy.
If you think back to last year when covid first reared its ugly head, it took a little while for the stock market to catch up and start selling off - it was quite volatile then for a few months, and if you look at the graphs on quite a few companies, once the vaccines started to be implemented and restrictions removed, some sectors did very well - travel/leisure especially.
Since March the market has been in a general sell off mood - I didn't recognise it originally as I naively thought that as we had vaccines we would gradually get back to normal and was not considering the impact the virus was having on things like supply chains. If we really are at the beginning of the end of covid, some sectors are going to do well again over the next few months, and whilst it may take a bit of time for others to catch up, personally I see next year as being as good a year as last.
Hope everyone has a good day today - good luck all.
