Gatekeeper I think you are wrong on a few counts.
Firstly I would expect that the FCA and COLP were communicating prior to the raid/arrests.
Secondly, when the investment was made the FCA definitely wouldn't have vetoed it as they could then have been accused of tipping off, and compromising a potential fraud case. Given these points, it is no surprise to me that the investment went ahead and the arrests happened very soon after the investment.
As part of the investment, new executives were appointed to the company's Board which has a bearing on the decisions made on behalf of the company and its shareholders.
Also, there is layering, it could be that COLP has reason to believe that this investment was used as a means to clean fraudulently obtained money by using the investment to get the funds into the financial system.
COLP do not smash the doors in on a whim and a punt, a lot of discovery work will have taken place.
Would not touch these shares with a bargepole.
