Phase II of EDR Pilot auction is £6 million.
Last year saw the launch of Phase I of the government’s Electricity Demand Reduction (EDR) pilot, an initiative to reduce electricity demand on the national grid during peak periods. This year DECC have launched Phase II of the pilot, responding to participant feedback with modifications to the application process and the requirements for participation.
Through the EDR initiative the government aims to provide qualifying organisations with financial support in return for the capacity savings delivered from the installation of more efficient electrical equipment which reduces their peak electricity demand across the winter months. Organisations with qualifying projects will be invited to take part in a competitive auction. Winning bids will be those that represent best value for money (i.e. the lowest price per kW offered) up to the total of the £6 million budget available in the auction.
The total funding available for Phase II of EDR Pilot auction is £6 million. The deadline for applications is on the 15th October 2015 (please note potential applicants should register their interest by 3rd September 2015) with the auction being held in January 2016.
