RE: Profit taking13 Apr 2023 12:20
it depends on a lot of factors, the decision to top slice. here are my key points to consider:
1. what is your valuation on CURRENT events (not fanciful plucked out of air down the pub numbers)
2 what do you need the money for ? (if you had 2 weeks to live you would prob sell regardless :-)
3. has the ceo done everything he says he will ? can you trust him ?
4. is this your first success ? do you have other winners so you can relax ?
5 why did you invest ? get on property ladder, buy a cod and chips this weekend ?
so based on all that top slicing is fine, and i do it, but have a few great winners so can relax and i want a house in the alps/italy, so i have to wait, making 2 grand doesnt change my life.
i will add as the story unfolds and improves.
i also highly recommend getting in to all these stocks really early so you can double/treble whatever and relax
its always hard when its your first good share because you have been told its to good to be true and this is for "professionals". well it isnt really, if you do the work and read trends and forecast the commodity you can do it
final point, if you dont have a view on the underlying commodity not much point in buying that company, because even the best miners with a poor commodity is helpless.
