Reading all the posts here today I feel totally inadequate in the fact that I own just over 91,000 shares, rather sad really.

Good on you Long9. We’re all human after all and people here love to speculate. I have a very small holding of just over 91,000 shares compared to many here, bought between Nov ‘19 and Feb ‘20 (total outlay around £4100.00). Never expected this journey though! Let’s hope the BOD deliver.

Why a rights issue, why not use some of the proceeds of asset sales??

Long9 suggest you re-read the RNS as it states ‘....could allow us to pay a significant dividend to all shareholders’. The most important word there is ‘could’, nothing at present is guaranteed. Everyone on here is now speculating, personally I am hopeful of a deal being done, how much shareholders get remains to be seen.

MikeStroud - to pay out a 50P dividend would require some very serious FCF. 2.75 Billion shares x 50p hmmmmm....

Agree Daddykool, suspect some people have not bothered reading the RNS! An extract from the RNS - "The Board has therefore also decided that it is time for the Company to exit from the Formal Sale Process, which has been prolonged due in part to COVID-19 lockdowns-related delays in conducting site visits (as announced on 14 January 2021)."

The point is Opto the RNS didn’t say ‘substantial’ dividend rather ‘significant’ dividend.

They use the word ‘significant’ and not ‘substantial’ in the RNS when talking about a possible dividend. They are very different words.
