Thanks Seaangler. It may be even more difficult than you think. I've just had a response from Greenpeace. They're generally not in favour because they fear that "pushing too quickly to develop hydrogen powered vehicles would lead to rapid deployment of hydrogen derived from fossil fuels instead of clean, green hydrogen from renewable sources".

I've just sent a reply back asking for clarification as to whether they feel ICE is better than 'grey' hydrogen given that at least fuel cell vehicles would clean up local city air pollution, albeit with no improvement in global carbon emitted. I believe that as long as battery EV continues to demand a certain change to people's lifestyle that'll slow the adoption of emissions-free cars...it does for me anyway. I'd have a fuel-cell car tomorrow if I could, but every time I think of battery EVs and the cables and having to plan for charging each week my heart sinks.

I think Greenpeace are in danger of letting "the perfect be the enemy of the good" as our politicians are fond of saying.

Thanks Porsche. Just a status update for everyone... After 24 hours the petition stands at around 450. It would certainly have to accelerate if it is to reach 100,000. At 10,000 the government is obliged at least to respond to the petition. I hope we can at least reach that figure. Anyone else able to cast the net wider would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I can't thank you all enough for helping me get started with this today. I know 100,000 signatures is miles away, but I feel like over 250 in the first 6 hours is a really positive start. The petition is allowed to run for 6 months and I guess to make some real progress we start to rely on friends and family and friends of friends, so many thanks to those who have widened the net to their own particular circle. I'll repost the link every now and then for those that may have missed it today and I'll keep thinking of other ways to get the link out there. Hi Craig, at present I believe there are only two you can buy and one more available specifically to lease. But the main point is that those have proven that the technology is sound, they typically travel further on a tank than the battery EVs and they refill similar to diesel and petrol. Their main detractors day that they are too expensive and that hydrogen comes from fossil and supports the big oil companies. In reality they are on par with some mid-premium battery models and would possibly fall in price with volume, even if hydrogen comes from fossil the local air quality is greatly improved and hydrogen will eventually be green. And I guess I would be broadly in favour of supporting big oil to go green along with the rest of us.

I did send an email to Rebecca Markillie, Marketing Manager & PA to CEO at ITM. I've no idea whether she'll even open it though, she's probably inundated with emails every day.
