This is yet another bit of bad advertisement for house builders the same old rubbish that was published about increasing ground rent.
I noticed a part that quoted :-
"Mr Stringer says he's seen the maintenance bill go from £12,000, shared across 80 estate homes, to £32,000 - £400 per household per year."
WHAT does he expect ?? We all know there are always maintenance charges ( M/C ) when you buy a leasehold and that is for general maintenance, upkeep of external painting, roof repairs ( flats / maisonettes ), road repairs and general maintenance of communal gardens etc and £400 is nothing over a year, that could increase depending on what has to be done over the years.
When I had a leasehold my M/C was over £1200 per year so I really do not know what he is complaining about.
If they do not like what the Leasehold deal is all about buy freehold, if you can't either afford that RENT. Why buy and complain much later ??
It make me mad that some people just do not read or understand the conditions on buying a property, know what they are buying or just do not care about the details and buy anyway and worry about them later. Why did they not ask their solicitor to explain in detail the M/C conditions then make their mind up whether to proceed or not.
I hope this does not take over the board as the ground rent fiasco did.
