Bank of America Merrill Lynch reinstated coverage of JD Sports on Tuesday with a 'buy' rating and 165p price target, citing a "compelling" valuation and upside of around 70%.

Thanks FF, same could be said when I was 100% up on Rolls Royce and I sold.. from £1 to £2.. then the ship picked up pace and left me behind to go beyond 500-600p ;)

The best thing I love about this brand is the potential, we haven’t even put in self scan tills or looked at reducing staffing levels, which means there’s more espresso left in the coffee beans.

Merthyr store very busy too! Queues at the tills, new product lines being added into the store, shoppers everywhere. however too many staff stood around talking, plenty of room for a recruitment freeze to enable cost saving excises.

It’s unbelievable how many JD Sports bags I’ve seen today, haven’t seen a single sport direct bag though.

Cwmbran store rammed, I’m heading to the Merthyr one now! Might even buy some trainers.

Although if we go get to 70p I’ll be scooping up every share in sight, so I’m not complaining! 70p would be a steal but I feel 120p is more likely.

JD is top tier, must more modern and a premium brand.

I went into a Sports Direct on New Year’s Day and my goodness, It’s like a market stall full of cheap tat, it’s pilled high full of poor quality brands, or old product lines that Mike Ashley has picked up on the cheap.

Just visited another store, about 50% reduced, 50 at full price.

I asked for a shoe in size 11 reduced from £145 to £100 and it was stock old, pros and cons!

Certainly undervalued.

You worry me sometimes johnjo1, please go to any shopping centre today and you’ll see nearly all retailers discounting.

It used to be called the “ January Sales “ so you can expect discounts for at least the next 3 weeks from most retailers.

Go outdoors is a fantastic brand!

It’s such a well known brand too, I’ll be glad once the blacks and millets brands are gone though.

Post-Christmas footfall is up year on year as shoppers flocked to the stores for the Boxing Day sales.

Footfall across all UK retail destinations was up 14.2% on 27 December compared to last year, driven by a 20.2% surge in shoppers on high streets, according to data from MRI Software.

Shopping Centres enjoyed a 12.7% rise in footfall, while retail parks saw a modest 2.7% increase.
