Instis and funders use the market cap as a guide, each have their own market cap provisions, some allow small purchases at certain market caps in aim companies, others require permission from a higher authority within the organisation to allow purchase, but it doesn't exclude them from buying because they are an insti or a funder and the company they are interested in is a junior explorer on the alternative investment market. Look at eurasia for example, BlackRock and Vanguard amongst others were buying mercilessly in to that, no doubt shorting it as well, yet the company was and is a junior explorer still, but BlackRock and Vanguard exited rather conveniently once the sp fell dramatically and the mc along with it. They stay ahead of the curve! They might even create the curve! imo.
