If such a thing happened it wouldn't be for the gas it would be for the storage. Shell are a utility supplier so it would make perfect sense. The likelihood is still pretty low I would say.

I work in the industry, we regularly cycle wells to optimise production. Thinking about how long these wells have been closed in for I would expect significant flow rates initially

5 years and you call it a day just before gas is due to come online? At the moment this is a binary bet, but I believe UK gas prices are about to explode due to lack of storage and the on situation in Ukraine.
Prices are low right now due to no storage which is why it's being used for power generation and flogging the rest to Europe for a tidy profit.
I'm in since 0.9 and intend to stick around, I have bailed so many times rather than play it out. There are a few more surprises here and it has storage written all over it.

Why go to so much trouble for a share you're not invested in? Out of interest, are you giving a balance view over on the 88e board for example?

Geographically SFB is in the best possible location for gas storage, I remain convinced this is the way things will go. A number of years ago this was being looked at.
The UK has no contingency plan, totally reliant on supply chain topped up with home produced.

Mid tier - Total, Equinor, or another producer who can store their own gas. Gas prices maybe low now but this is a result of no storage, wait until this winter - sparks are going to fly.

look back in history Saltfleetby was earmarked for gas storage, a company tried to buy it but couldn't generate the interest at the time.

We have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, it may have been a required for any potential bid that the asset is clear of all 3rd parties and under one ownership.
For me this make perfect sense, right now the UK has a glut of gas, the export lines to Europe are operating above capacity, all power generation is from gas and the spot price is well below that of Europe.

UK gas storage written all over it. Right now the UK is shipping all surplus gas to the Europe as they have nowhere to store it.
Checkout NTS flows, 70-80mcm/day to Europe via the interconnector in Norfolk.

Look at 88e, how many failures. Hyped drills tend to under deliver, look for the ones going on which no one mentions like UOG.
