Private sector investment is always available for a return ,if renewables without subsidies gave a return they would attract that investment no problem! but there is always ways to force the money to be put up for investment in renewables or be confiscated in taxes! and that I feel is likely to be the way they will attempt to get that investment in GB energy watch out, your pension money it is too tempting for Miliband's pet project!

I believe it will be a vehicle to milk private pensions to fund renewables, the ultimate ESG idea we already have rules that force company pensions to buy Gilts, will we end up with rules to make us invest in renewables with GB Energy.

Hi voiceofreason1 no need for sorry hopefully you are right, I agree it is a tiny buy back so why not get on with it? What would be the worst that could happen share price rises am sure the AGM will be full of complaints about that, yes that may attract shorters but just announce another buy back much larger. Tongue in cheek comments, am sure ML know what they are doing and will make a profit doing it.

Share buy backs are very low at the moment why, 1. it could be ML are letting in some clients before pulling the trigger? could be they are trying to work the price down to pick up panic sellers? could be they will let it rip for a few pence and draw out those sitting on the edge trying to trade who will sell up thinking they can buy back cheaper? they will buy and debt will continue to fall so SP will respond. I think 1. is very likely.

Me too, spread being opened up to choke off buyers put up my bond income into some more equity, may be wrong but 20p must be coming to fill ML brief.

Thanks for info I couldn't find that info in accounts on note 28? I was looking at note 22 and they did say " At 31 December 2023, the contingent profit-sharing arrangement cap of $1.0 billion was forecast to be met in the present value calculations" I am afraid accounts written by accountants for accountants.

Looking forward to 9% bonds pay out May, and shares will come good at some point.

I had a bit of time and looked through accounts and hey-presto found it $461,271m this I assume is balance of $1bn gross of the original deferred liability which means as we paid BP $65m last year and used our tax credit to pay 40% of that.

BP may get their money?

Or to put it another way Enquest have paid BP $539m from 37.5% of Magnus so we have cleared $898m
