I see Synexus have put out a search for Patients with COPD to enter trials for a new drug. I assume this is VRP as it mentions that the trial drug can be used as an add on.
If this is true it can only mean the phase 2 has been a success. Maybe the turn in the companies fortunes is now on it's way.

I see from the VRP website that an investment company Polar Capital has taken a 5% stake in the company in the last few weeks. I assume those million shares recently declared as sells were actually buys as Polar weren't even listed a month ago. Encouraging support for the company as we approach phase 3.

I do find the lack of confidence in this company / board fascinating. 10 years ago, an RNS similar to yesterday's would have seen this share soar for weeks not 3 hours as we are talking about massively successful results from a phase 2 when most drugs fail. For me this is an indictment in the way the board have run the company of late. No share holders have the confidence any more ( Especially America) to put their hard earned into this company as we have all seen too many false Dawn's. not really because of the results but in planning and presentation. My holding is 20% of the value it was but never bothered to sell when I should have. I think that one day this share will soar as the profits will cause this to happen but as someone said recently I just hope I live long enough to see it happen.

The price of this share now beggars belief. I had money in VRP when it was approx 15p old money which should now be worth £7.50 a share and at 43p means it's worth 6% of what it was. What do we get from the board, a deafening silence to reassuring the market. I have been in this share for years now and lost a lot of money but I do feel sorry for the Americans when it was floated on the Nasdaq promising all milk and honey and it's worth approx 25% of what they paid within 1 year.
For the sake of all of our sanity's JAK break the silence please and reassure the market that everything is on track.!!!!!

I'm finally getting fed up with the slow progress this share seems to make, which judging by the other posts on this forum is the prevailing theme for everyone. The problem is, as much as we get frustrated , there is nothing we can do when 70% of the shares are owned by the institutional shareholders who don't seem bothered at all by the slow progress. When I listened to the recent webcast, none of the questions asked were what we would have asked such as when will the share finally move or to what, they were all technical questions asked by institutions. As much as the wait is painful for us, it is nought compared to the poor patients that need this drug to get to market?. I can't imagine what is must be like when every breath is a torment and in fact know someone who has just died from COPD. I know it all needs to get through the trials but As Rhodi has indicated the trials only ever seem to go sideways rather than forwards. My heart goes out to the patients.

I am not known naturally for my optimism but I do feel as though something could be round the corner for this drug. Following the poor presentation of the Phase 2 results in January, as we all know the price plunged and I can understand why as it appears that one of the institutional investors Foresite who owned 4.75% of the company had either sold some or all of their holding as they were no longer registered on the VRP website. Fortunately all the other companies held their nerve ansd fortunately since then JAK has issued a better review of the trial and Tekla another investor appear to have increased their holding so the institutional shareholders seem happy now. There has been suspicions on this site that the directors are milking the company despite knowing the drug has little to offer but I see that Dr Edwards is or has had large involvement with Novo who are the largest investor in VRP and I can't believe that if there was any doubt on this drug he would have warned Novo as surely being on the board he would have all the inside information, but their holding has remained constant. I personally feel that the share might start climbing as we approach phase 3. Only my opinion though. Fingers crossed!!

I now feel this share has been massively oversold and represents bargain of the decade. This share was just over 1p in old money approx. 10 years ago and has now dropped back to roughly the same and yet we have passed
the fearful phase 2 when most drugs fail. I just which I had loads of spare cash to 'fill my boots' and this is from someone whose glass is always 1/2 empty. Most scribes on this site felt it would increase 6 times after phase 3 and at this price would go up 12 times probably within 2 years if it were to reach the same price.

The section of the report that makes me optimistic is
'Based on talks with COPD experts, the Jefferies analysts think improvements in FEV1 of 40 ml or more are “clinically meaningful in patients already considered maximally bronchodilated.” When coupled with the effect of ensifentrine on residual volume and potential for its anti-inflammatory properties to drive ongoing efficacy improvements, the analysts think the data justify forging ahead with the phase 3 strategy.'

Like most on this web site I lost a lot when VRP plunged on Monday. I first noticed it was dropping when the price was down 12% and saw the Phase 2 trial results, which I found confusing, containg both bad and good news. JAK, I think you could have done better !!!. Due to work commitments I never got back to my computer until it was 30% down and sold. I felt as angry as most people posting on this site until I saw Bewises post about the the article from Fierce Bio tech (re posted below by Stockenshares) which gives some clarity from doctors. I bought back in early Tuesday after seeing that none of the institutional shareholders seem to have flinched and realising that I'm prepared to see this through til the end in the hope that the drug can be designed for more long term use which seem to offer 'significant improvement rather than little improvement for short turn use although it was a relatively small trial. Phase 3 will be all telling . Good luck one and all and please JAK make us smile.

Buddyhell I sense your frustration with the price of VRP but I disagree with you over the price. I was reading an article the other day that a huge % of drugs fail in their phase 2 part of development so if the medical results do come in favourably, there should be, (hopefully) a significant lift in the share price but I accept that conversely the opposite could happen. The article I referred to also said only 10% of drugs fail in their phase 3 as by then the 'Wheat has been separated from the chaff' so once we have got the dodgy phase 2 trial out of the way it should be heads down to a successful drug commercialisation especially if you read the feedback so far from the earlier trials on VRP as something must have gone very wrong for those results not to represent the results we,'re all waiting for. I'm sure bewise can endorse my theory as he seems very switched on with pharmaceutical matters.

Rhodi, I do think you are being unfair to Bewise although I must confess I’ve wondered if he’s JAK.
I am just a casual investor but in my job over the years have arranged functions for several drug launches and I do remember asking one scientist from a leading drug company about his drug and he explained that some drugs can take up to 30 years from concept to market which is why drugs can be so expensive to buy. I believe Verona has been going for 15 years approx. so on the scientist’s time line they have plenty of time before we have the right to grumble. I personally don’t see what more the board can do, all the results keep coming out very favourably but we all know that the success of a share runs on investor confidence and if social media such as this keep running the share down despite the favourable clinical trials , it just makes investors nervous and the share will fall because of it, but is that the BOD fault because as somebody said on this board , they had already said they knew of no reason why the share price had fallen.. I was chuffed recently when I made a few thousand when the share shot up after the clinical trials but I chickened out when I saw scribes berating the share yet again and sold at a profit as I knew it will fall. I have since bought back in and am more than happy to be patient and hopefully see my investment increase if the final results are good in a couple or few years time.

I'm sure the late sales are because some VRP holders are twitchy because of the history of the price dropping and don�t want to lose the profits they have made in the last couple of weeks. However there seems to have been quite a few sales this week that instantly get snapped up by large investors buying in large quantities. I may be wrong but I can only see this share climbing even steeply as the next big results are due, as like me there are many investors prepared to have a punt and hope the share will fly if the results are very successful.

My opinion, value less thought it may be. I first bought VRP when it was recommended in the Sunday Telegraph as a share to buy where it many years ago pointed out the size of the potential market - if the drug proved successful. After one of the successful earlier trials , I bought in at 4p old money and within approx. 3 months saw it climb to 16p which would now be equivalent to �8 a share. Since then of course, because of the length of time it has taken between each trial, many investors see opportunities else where and sell up. I sold my holding, but bought back in 2 years ago since the heady 16p. I am now quite highly leveraged, as should this drug click I want to be there at the beginning rather than chasing an ever increasing buy price. Also the confidence I get from quality institutional shareholders still holding their shares can I do anything other than the same. I do agree that the company lacks communications skills but lets hope they are concentrating on getting the trials over and the drug to market. I intend keeping the faith.
