RE: US Tax13 Apr 2022 16:58
Agreed on one thing, Roger A; it's not a busy board! I visited ADVFN board this morning to understand the 2%+ drop. Cost of well-capping has raised its ugly head once more - echoes of the Bloomberg article that caused a significant drop a few months ago. I am holding. It recovered post Bloomberg, the SP will recover after this too, I believe. Any other opinions?
By the way, the tax on dividends can be explained briefly. The default rate of US withholding tax tax is 30%. If you have a W8BEN form on file, it is reduced to 15%. If your shares are held in any kind of UK pension fund (e.g. SIPP), you pay NO tax; this is clearly specified in the UK-USA Double Taxation Treaty which has legal status. Do not allow a Pension provider in the UK to deduct any tax from your dividends.
