SKYWEST AIRLINES LTD
("Skywest")
APRIL 2010 AIRLINE PASSENGER OPERATING STATISTICS
Skywest, Western Australia's largest regional airline is pleased to announce its network operating statistics for the month of April 2010.
Skywest RPT traffic, measured by Revenue Passenger Kilometres increased by 1.46%, while capacity, measured by Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs) increased by 0.20% over the same period of the previous year. Load Factor decreased by 3.93% to 52.56%. Skywest Charter traffic which is measured by Charter ASKs increased by 5.22%.
On behalf of Skywest, Executive Chairman Jeff Chatfield commented: "Skywest is pleased with the overall performance of the airline. However, as previously stated, the consequences of the actions of government, State and Federal, remain risks to the business of Skywest. It is noted that the Australian Federal Government has proposed the introduction of a new Resource Super Profits Tax ("RSPT") to apply from 1 July 2012. The precise details of how this proposed tax will operate are currently subject to further public consultation with draft exposure legislation potentially released in mid 2011. Due to the uncertainty, Skywest does not believe that it is appropriate to speculate on any impact of the proposed RSPT on its customers and therefore by inference to its own business at this time."
