The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Zequic, it makes sense and is clear in my mind, the differences in the centre camera in all the links is the camera/lens can be changed to fit the field of vision required thus changing it's look. This link has a protruding camera http://outlook.nysf.edu.au/category/nysf/partners/ (scroll down to NYSF 2017 visits Canberra firm Seeing Machines)
while this link does not https://mobile.twitter.com/seeingmachines/status/953445463293706240
and we know SM were testing their tech in a Tesla & Honda.
Also watching the Toyota clip they say 'the camera can even see through sunglasses in order to see what the eyes are doing'. It's clear they will need/be using an infrared system and will need 'best in class' to prevent the chances of any false positives. If as they say the driver is driving but the guardian system is like a backseat driver which takes over if it detects a drowsy driver or obstacle in the road before handing back control - you wouldn't want any false positives in this system. I can just imagine instances of the driver and guardian swapping control from 1s to the next on a lesser/cheaper camera system. As this link talks about camera compromise 'one of the advantages of an IR camera is the ability to detect the eyes, even through polarized sunglasses http://www.autonews.com/article/20181001/OEM06/181009966/bmw-x5-facial-recognition-camera.
Also, although I have not fully researched the benefits of fpga, apart from low power requirements, I think i am right in saying the system can be updated (maybe cheaper system can too, not sure) but also even reprogrammed for future development etc and for high volumes the SOC would be best imo. Finally Toyota appreciate the value of data - 'data is the new gold or oil' and we have the real-world data.

This patent images kind of similar (p2 esp - load images) but have not had time to read or study main patent.

Fovio test camera (around ~33s you can see what looks like Fovio test camera above RH steering wheel.)
glandore, although SEE supply software/IP, I am pretty sure the physical camera is ours just like FOVIO. I can't find any other pic or ref to similar looking camera anywhere. Here are some links to name but a few aswell as the samsung clip already linked with the camera is use.

If you look at the picture on the wall behind our man showcasing the tech at Expo in Japan it is part of the 'Seeing Machines FDM-EVK Embedded Evaluation Kit'. It shows the 'SM FDM-CAM Reference Camera + Illumination' as an exploded technical drawing. https://twitter.com/seeingmachines/status/1037325455504814080

I'm pretty sure the camera is a modern version of the older tech on display here (2012).
And checkout the faceLAB-5.pdf - 'faceLAB has been successfully used in cars, trucks, trains, planes, submarines and other vehicles'.
Following on from johnchucka post on Sunday I found an extended version of Youtube video in article. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMdceKGJ9Oc
Interesting excerpts from clip.
Car to be shown at 2020 olympics with launch shortly after. L5 many years off. Toyota make 10 million cars per year.
They also understand how important data is - "Data is the new oil or gold".
At ~52s you can see their implementation of GMs Cadillac system on centre dash (light to show you when Guardian is active or not) and as Escovido points out at around ~33s you can see what looks like Fovio test camera above RH steering wheel. I was sure I had seen this camera before - our man showcasing Fovio tech at Expo in Japan https://twitter.com/seeingmachines/status/1037325455504814080

This guy rates Self-Driving Cars 2.5 / 10.
'better than a psychotic driver aiming to kill everyone and a Drunk Driver w/ 2.4 Blood Alcohol level.'
LOL
Quote from 'The State of Self-Driving Cars in 2018'
'I'm an engineer by trade and I'm now on the fence about this whole self-driving car thing and how far it should go. It almost seems like the best thing to have is a human driver and then a self-driving car providing assistance, much like airplanes. Airplanes have an autopilot mode but you also have a pilot. I really wouldn't want to fly in a plane which had no pilot at all just because many times you need a human to make a decision about these things and how it's going to affect people. If somebody's going to be really sick on a plane or something terrible happens in the cabin you want a human to make a determination on whether it should turn around and land. The computer should not be making that decision".
Found on youtube.

Thanks for linking Escovido. Could be using different mount but shape fits well. Curves etc. Definitely not SE if DMS in regards shape. Also unable to find any other Waybo with this "object". Video posted 9th Sept. Could it be a trial or...?
