The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
If BB plan to make a real go in the UK then i pretty shaw they will need to take someone over, this could be anyone of course. Time is key and they can'r build a business that wants to dominate by opeing three stoes a year which is what it has taken so far. Which ever brand they choose, this gives them the inforstructure, distribution etc etc to fast track their plans. Be interesting to see what unfolds. Whats BB like to work for compared in dsg, I know is early stages ?
I agree Mitch , we do need new faces on this board, which one are you moving to so i can avoid it ?

There i was Mitch thinking i could catch you out by you thinking we bought from the Greeks. no no no. your so raxor sharp ! Not sure where you have been, the MARKETS are down beacouse of the ecommic issues with all i pointed out in my last post. Markets re-act on good and bad news which is why the DOW and FTSE are not performing. I don't care what you write , it makes no difference what you think or say while you sit in your sweet shop tapping on LSE DSG dominate a markey of which you play no impact in ! Guys, for anyone who reads the bank posts, i's sure Mitch is linked to someone called ulnucky.
Share price is going down not because the company has poor numbers, for anyone else that is not been watching, the Greeks are in the ****, the Germans are playing god, the Euro is on it's arse and shall i go on. No, there is a sigificant amount of negative economic issues currently that regrettably DSG are not exempt. Sales went up at xmas beating Comet, the statement last week also highlighted sales growth AND i excpect DSG to have beaten last years poor profit number. not by much , but never the less it will i'm sure be positve. For those not aware of 2 in 1 it is where two stores are made into one with a high level of investment. There are many around the UK which sorry Mitch have not just had a paint job. I don't understand why you spend so much time on a site ****gig og the comany that ypu don't have any shares in. It also interesting how many readers you pi55 off with the rubbish you write. You have all the answers yet don't use this to your advantage by buying in. mmmmm wonder why not ? maybe because you write what you want to read ! GL everyone, hold you nerve, the market will re-act, it's a case of when !
I was taking the **** !
I bought just the other week mirical growing seed for the patches in my grass from Homebase. It never grew, never gonna buy anything from them again, think it;s a rip off, guess its my own fault as they aint such thing as miricals. Down homebase, my report them to trading standards. !
Was caused by Home retail and Best buys being romoured as a possibe bid, there was no offer ! Home retail also spiked as they were linked to a bid from Walmart !
If you offered such a silly number it would be ignored unless the company was close to going bankrupt and you were picking up all the debt ! This is when you read companies are picked up for £1. If you want to discuss real business stratergy then the board i'm sure will be happy to help, but please cut out the ping pong posts that no one is interested in ! You are effecting your credibility and it adds no benefit to readers who are looking for guidance in DSG and what to do with their investment. GL
Anyone reading Mitches post about a bid rejected from BB, needs to undersatnd that the board are unable to reject a bid without going public as DSG is a public owned comany and share holders would need to be informed. Also a possible bid that had of hit the press would have caused a spike in the share price, not a decline which we have seen the last two days. Anyone wanting to make a quick buck, PLEASE DYOR , i'm sure at some point they may a bid from someone, but don't follow advise from people you don't know, research the press !!!
You say never KNIT PICK anyones advice, well am I an exception then ? I don't do Q&A sessions ! And I am delighted that you run a multi million company with two staff ! I run a real business with 000's of customers each week and have devloped a successful team ! GL
Hi mate, work as a GM in store and was taken on from another retailer. Furture SP, i think there is some long term ground with this group, however Best Buys impact will clearly have a big part depending on how much that batter DSG and their profit. Profit for 2009/10 year end will be good and will create and increase short term. This may if we are really lucky could reach 40p - 45p.
Not sure where you bloody came from ! Right lets get things in the open ! DSG, of which i am an external GM that joined the group due to my experience and skills i bring to help resolve many issues that we have to address. I don't put myself in the same catogorie as those that have been in a senior role for years and SHOULD NOT be in the position of management as they are unable to perform basic management skills. DSG has many faults of which there seems to be a higher quality of senior management at board level that appear to have a good plan to enusre we pull through the current climate or put us in a good posiion for a take over, of which i don't care which one it is ! All these negative posts because mitch asked for some OPINIONS but did not agree on what i posted. The board is to share tips to help us all make money. Interesting , now you can see why nobody else bothered to add their feedback to his post !!! It worries me that you assume from reading my posts that i fit into a group of GM's that don't recuit the right people or feel the importance of training staff and i guess that is because you are either niave or have the inteligence of rocking horse ! It really does not bother me one bit what you are anyone else thinks of me or DSG !!!! I am a strong and sucessful leader who has delivered some great progress in the stores I have been appointed in to which needed a structured plan to fix the business issues that came with each store. I
DSG makes 100% profit on NORTON so discounting is not an issue. Where do you get your data from to state regualary discounted ?
Look, we both have some info and are both right. I never called staff muppets ! Agree with yiu on fives, and training in many cases is down to poor GM's that don't see training as important. This business has plenty to do to address staff issues and training and one of them is to bring pay pands in line wih allowing us to take on experience !
Firstly, what was the point in askng for some imput only to slate it ? I worrk for DSI in a senior role and fully understand what is and is not happening ! Issues instore are created becuase we have staff that are not at the level we need tobe in sales, many are great individuals but don't want to work to targets ! Well if yiu like like water , don't be a lige gaurd ! Staff also feel they don't need tofollwo policies and procedures set out by the company and then get ****ed off when they are challenged ? We run a business not a school play ground and any quality company exects the staff to comply, DSG staff have had it easy for years and teh party is now over !!! With the customer plan and the different formats, let me highlight i fully understand how the budgets have been set and have also been involved with 2 in 1 stores and yes in some cases you are right ! In furture it would be more constuctive to ask for futher clarity from posts rather than assuming you know it all and the individual you are talking to is a muppet !
With ref to your last post, i have worked for many companies that have been involved in take overs in a senior position and have never heard or seen anything like what you are suggesting, not sure where thus has come frombut it's way off the mark with DSG. Although the company is making some good progress, i would be very surprised to see a take over from BB or Home retail ! DSG share price is not lower enough to spark a take over and has a business plan which is sound to take the group forward. I held a significant number of shares but have sold out more because of the market uncertantity and would have bought quickly more if i even thought there was a take over in the horizon as it would be easy money !
Don't want to spoil the party, but these shares aint be over 50p for over a year, for these to move forwad that quickly the year results are going to have to be bloody good ! I have recently bailed out at a significant loss as this stock has been going no where other than south, GL guys if your in !
what make you think this is a good comany and in for a steady rise ? I have seen no evidence of this and have now dumped my shares after losing a blooy fortune !
